Tala-Reh's husband

Before the Galactic War erupted between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a male Voss served as the spouse of the Voss named Tala-Reh, and he was also a member of the commandos belonging to his species. On the Voss' homeworld, which shares the same designation, Valen-Da, a Voss Mystic, dispatched Tala-Reh's partner on what amounted to a suicide mission. His task was to confront Jokull, who reigned as king over the antagonistic Gormak species. Fully aware that this undertaking would lead to his demise, the commando bravely challenged Jokull to a one-on-one fight. The Voss managed to overcome twenty of the hundred Gormak warriors sent to eliminate him, but ultimately succumbed in the ensuing battle. The death of the commando served as a major source of inspiration for the Voss people, leading to the creation of numerous celebratory songs and poems in his honor.

Biography

Tala-Reh

Prior to the Galactic War that occurred between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a male Voss became part of the Voss commandos, which represented the military arm of his species on their homeworld called Voss. He also entered into marriage with a woman known as Tala-Reh. Sometime before the year 3640 BBY, Valen-Da, a Voss Mystic, had a vision concerning Tala-Reh's spouse and subsequently met with the man to explain the prophetic insight. In Valen-Da's vision, the commando was destined to be killed by Jokull, the king of the hostile Gormak species with whom the Voss shared their homeworld, and Jokull would send the fallen warrior's head back to the city of Voss-Ka.

Despite being aware that he would perish, the commando followed Valen-Da's instructions and journeyed alone to the Gormak city of Gorma-Koss, where he presented himself before Jokull and issued a challenge for a duel. Jokull declined and instead ordered a hundred of his Gormak warriors to attack the Voss. However, the commando fought back valiantly, eliminating twenty of his attackers before ultimately being killed. Just as Valen-Da had foreseen, Jokull severed the man's head and sent it back to Voss-Ka. The commando's act of sacrifice served as a major inspiration to the Voss people, leading many to join the ranks of the commandos—including his wife, Tala-Reh, who became a commando and served Valen-Da as his protector. Numerous songs and poems were composed in the man's honor, and in 3640 BBY, Tala-Reh recited one such poem to the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython when the Jedi's prowess in battle reminded her of her husband.

Personality and traits

The male Voss was a commando known for his unwavering loyalty, Tala-Reh's spouse was exceptionally willing to sacrifice his own life in service to the Mystics. Even with the full knowledge of his impending death, the commando faithfully executed Valen-Da's directives and challenged Jokull to a duel. Tala-Reh remembered her spouse as a powerful and fierce warrior, and his ultimate sacrifice motivated her to enlist in the commandos herself.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Tala-Reh's spouse occurred in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game created by BioWare and released in 2011. This reference can be found during the Jedi Knight class mission titled "Vault of the Gormak King" on Voss.
