Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Freedon Nadd Uprising 2: Initiates of the Sith constitutes the second and final installment within the comic book series titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Freedon Nadd Uprising. Dark Horse Comics released it to the public on September 1, 1994.
Ulic Qel-Droma's plea for assistance is answered as Republic rocket jumpers descend to the surface of Onderon, with the goal of suppressing the Freedon Nadd Uprising. Amidst the ongoing battle, the Tetan royal siblings Satal and Aleema Keto suffer a crash landing in their vessel, the Krath Enchanter, within the streets of Iziz; however, the Keto siblings manage to survive.
Concurrently, the Jedi contingent dispatched from Ossus, under the leadership of Nomi Sunrider, approaches the fortified citadel of Modon Kira, which is currently under assault by Naddists, Sith war droids, and siege weaponry. As Jedi cruisers eliminate the siege engines, Nomi, accompanied by fellow Jedi Kith Kark, Dace Diath, Qrrl Toq, and Shoaneb Culu, spearheads an assault, penetrating the Naddist ranks. Despite the Jedi's success in lifting the siege, Kith Kark succumbs to a stray cannon blast.
With the siege engines neutralized, Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma, Tott Doneeta, and Oss Wilum command the Beast Riders in a sortie from the fortress, effectively breaking the siege. Simultaneously, Nomi's capacity for battle meditation is disrupted by an unseen force, rendering her unconscious. Ulic rushes to Nomi's aid and reveals that their adversary is King Ommin.
In the meantime, Satal and Aleema Keto seek assistance in deciphering their Sith book within the cafes of Iziz. A local guides them to King Ommin, who grants them an audience. Convinced that the Ketos will oversee the impending "great change," Ommin bestows upon Satal a Sith amulet that will enable him to comprehend the book flawlessly.
As King Ommin charges Novar with the task of locating a scribe to replicate the Sith tome, he unveils to the Ketos his most prized possession: the captive Jedi Master Arca Jeth. Arca is suspended on the wall, enduring the torment of deadly Sith magic. Ommin's objective is to completely extinguish his light and resurrect him as a Dark Jedi. However, a defiant Arca informs Ommin that his Jedi Knights are approaching.
A team of seven Jedi—Ulic, Cay, Nomi, Dace, Qrrl, Tott, and Oss Wilum—force their way into King Ommin's subterranean stronghold. Cay loses an arm to a Sith war droid, but manages to destroy it with his lightsaber. The Jedi soon confront King Ommin, who strikes Nomi down with dark side energy. While Satal and Aleema flee with the Sith tome, Ulic severs the former King's armature, causing him to collapse to the ground.
Deprived of his iron armature to support his weakened bones, Ommin collapses like an Arkanian jellyfish. Ulic demands to know the location of Master Arca, but Ommin remains defiant even in his final moments. Meanwhile, Satal and Aleema discover that the Force ghost of Freedon Nadd has killed the scribe. Deeming them as heirs to the dark side, he bestows upon them the book, the talisman, and two Sith swords. Nadd directs them to a passage that leads them to the surface.
The Force ghost of Nadd materializes beside the dying King Ommin but declines to assist him, believing that his time has come. After killing Ommin, Nadd believes that one of the Jedi belongs to the dark side. Master Arca appears shortly after and congratulates Ulic. Before the Jedi can confront the dark side spirit, Nadd taunts them that the Jedi have lost today before vanishing.
In the aftermath of the Freedon Nadd uprising's defeat, Republic forces occupy Iziz and enforce martial law. Offworlders are evacuated back to their respective home planets. Satal and Aleema depart offworld, carrying their Sith treasures among the evacuees.
Master Arca oversees the removal of dark side influences from Onderon. The remains of Freedon Nadd, Queen Amanoa, and now King Ommin are transported to the Tomb of Freedon Nadd located on the jungle moon of Dxun. The Jedi, King Oron Kira, and Queen Galia supervise the entombment of the dark siders. Ulic inquires of Master Arca the meaning behind Freedon Nadd's statement that the Jedi had lost.
Arca clarifies that Nadd was alluding to the ancient Sith prophecy foretelling the return of the Dark Lords, and that he had encountered similar narratives from the Jedi Holocron. He implores the Jedi to remain steadfast in their adherence to the light side of the Force, characterizing it as their ally. He urges Ulic to remember that where there is light, there can be no darkness.
