Tantive III

The Tantive III (with a pronunciation of /ˈtæntɪˌvi 'θri:/), alternatively known as the Sundered Heart, functioned as the dedicated diplomatic cruiser for Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan during the era of the Clone Wars. Raymus Antilles held the position of captain on this vessel. A distinctive feature of the Tantive III, setting it apart from other ships within its classification, was the presence of a hangar sufficiently spacious to accommodate a starfighter equivalent in size to Grievous's personal ship. The senator utilized it for the purpose of extracting the Jedi Grand Master Yoda and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had survived the events of Order 66.

Behind the scenes

The initial, albeit brief, appearance of the Tantive III within Star Wars canon occurred in the 2005 cinematic release, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Upon the film's premiere, a prevalent assumption arose, suggesting that it was, in fact, the Tantive IV as seen in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. However, Leland Chee, acting as the Keeper of the Holocron continuity database at Lucasfilm, later clarified that it was a separate vessel referred to as the Sundered Heart, although this detail originated from Star Wars Legends.

The 2016 version of the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations formally identified the canon version as the Tantive III. Furthermore, the second issue of Star Wars Helmet Collection also recognized it as the Sundered Heart.
