Tey How was a Neimoidian who functioned as a battleship pilot for the Trade Federation. They were involved in the blockade and subsequent invasion of the planet Naboo. During the blockade's initial phase, How piloted the Federation's flagship, known as the Saak'ak. From this position, they relayed various reports and warnings to their superiors, Daultay Dofine and Nute Gunray, concerning a pair of Jedi ambassadors from the Galactic Republic. The Federation attempted to kill these Jedi aboard their vessel.
Following the Jedi's escape and the commencement of the full-scale invasion of Naboo, How was reassigned to pilot the Droid Control Ship called Vuutun Palaa. They initiated the activation of the battle droid army that was deployed to engage the Gungan Grand Army during the Battle of Naboo. However, How met their end when the child pilot Anakin Skywalker successfully flew an N-1 starfighter into the Vuutun Palaa, destroying its primary reactor.

As a Neimoidian, Tey How was a member of the Trade Federation during its [invasion_of_naboo] of the planet Naboo resulting from a trade dispute in 32 BBY. How held the position of pilot aboard the Lucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighter Saak'ak. This vessel served as the flagship for the Trade Federation fleet, operating under the command of Captain Daultay Dofine. How was at their station in the navigation area on the bridge when the Jedi ambassadors Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on the Saak'ak. They were there to negotiate an end to the blockade on behalf of Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum of the Galactic Republic.
After Viceroy Nute Gunray of the Trade Federation attempted to kill the Jedi using poisonous dioxis gas, a squad of OOM-series battle droids was dispatched to confirm their demise. How informed their superiors that contact with the squad had been lost after the battle droids were swiftly eliminated by the Jedi. Alarmed by the loss of the droids, Gunray instructed How to seal off the bridge and then to close the blast doors once Jinn began cutting through the bridge doors using his lightsaber. The Jedi were compelled to halt their attempt to reach the bridge when a pair of droidekas attacked them. Subsequently, How reported that they had moved into the ship's ventilation system.

As the Jedi boarded one of the Federation's landing craft and escaped the Saak'ak, How informed Gunray that they were receiving a transmission from Queen Padmé Amidala of Naboo on the planet's surface. After Amidala refused to concede to the Federation's demands for surrender, droid forces were deployed to invade Naboo. How was present on the bridge when Gunray's master, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, contacted him via hologram for an update on the invasion's progress. During this communication, Gunray opted not to mention the escape of the two Jedi.
As the takeover of Naboo progressed, How and Dofine relocated from the Saak'ak to the bridge of the Lucrehulk-class Battleship Vuutun Palaa. When the Gungan Grand Army assembled to oppose the Trade Federation's invasion in battle, Dofine instructed How to activate their droid army on the surface. During the resulting battle, the child Anakin Skywalker flew an N-1 starfighter into the Vuutun Palaa and launched missiles into the ship's main reactor.
How reported that the ship was losing power because of the damage. However, Dofine refused to believe that anything could have penetrated the battleship's shields. Despite the captain's confidence, the bridge, along with the rest of the ship, was destroyed, resulting in the deaths of How and other crew members.
Tey How's skin was a mottled shade of green.
During the Invasion and Battle of Naboo, How wore a black-and-gray robe along with a black mitre. They utilized a pair of data goggles and hand-operated data panels in the navigation station to control and pilot both the Saak'ak and the Vuutun Palaa.
