Palace spire
The Palace spire, also known as the Temple Spire or the Tranquility Spire during the Galactic Republic's era, represented the tallest spire constructed on top of the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. This palace was formerly the Jedi Temple. The Council Towers, a collection of four smaller spires, surrounded it.
Description
For a millennium, the Tranquility Spire, a high-reaching structure adorned with three ornamental fins at its peak, stood prominently at the center of the Jedi Temple. Regarded as one of the most sacred locations for the Jedi Order, the spire's interior featured galleries showcasing the Order's history. Repulsor technology held mosaics, sculptures, and tapestries in the tower's central space, which could be observed through transparisteel turbolifts positioned along the spire's exterior walls. It was surrounded by four smaller spires collectively referred to as the Council Towers. The original mountain peak of the sacred spire emerged from the ziggurat at the tower's base, encircled by hallways overlooking the edifice's barren slopes. These pathways extended from the outer halls onto and through the mountain, descending into the original cave chapels. Balconies for meditation were located here, as well as a balcony that displayed a series of holo-depictions of Jedi history for the education of the younglings. The Spire's highest point housed halls and a chamber of great significance to the Order, including private rooms for meditation and contemplation, lecture halls, and a room containing a galaxy holomap. This area of the Temple also housed the Jedi's military command center. The Veranda, located within the finned section of the Spire, contained the Hall of Knighthood and a private hangar for dignitaries and members of the Jedi High Council. The Pinnacle Room in the Spire held the Order's most crucial documents and artifacts, serving as a meeting location for the High Council in addition to the Jedi Council Chamber.
Following the fall of the Jedi Order and the subsequent rise of the Galactic Empire, Darth Sidious established his residence within the Jedi Temple, transforming the Temple Spire into the Empire's governmental seat. The pinnacle chamber was converted into his throne room, and the spire was renamed the Palace Spire. All references to the once-esteemed Jedi were removed from the rest of the spire, replaced by statues and artwork celebrating the Empire's glory.
