Tuanulberries, a kind of fruit considered edible, were found growing on bushes located on the planet of Jakku. These berries were also suitable for dye creation. Before the scavenger named Rey departed Jakku in the year 34 ABY, Unkar Plutt, a Crolute junk dealer, consumed a tuanulberry while in conversation with her at Niima Outpost, and he inadvertently sprayed a small piece of the berry onto her shoulder during their exchange. Also in 34 ABY, Lor San Tekka, an explorer, was seen wearing a dark blue linen tunic that had been colored using tuanulberries while he resided in the village of Tuanul on Jakku.
The first mention of tuanulberries occurred in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book from 2015 authored by Pablo Hidalgo. Their initial appearance was in the 2018 chapter book Forces of Destiny: The Rey Chronicles, penned by Emma Carlson Berne.
