The Tuk'ata were a species of creatures that were classified as a Sith warbeast. These creatures, also known as Sith hounds, were native to the planet Moraband.
Tuk'ata were large, four-legged creatures. Their limbs terminated in paws equipped with claws. They possessed a long, whip-like tail, a mouth filled with sharp fangs, and a series of spines running along their backs and tails. Notably, one tuk'ata was observed to have the capability to jump more than twice its own height.
At one point, the crime syndicate led by Latts Razzi managed to obtain two fully mummified specimens of tuk'ata. These mummies, along with other stolen goods, were subsequently seized by Dryden Vos who was a part of the Crimson Dawn syndicate.
Sometime after the Battle of Yavin, Doctor Aphra entered an ancient temple in her quest to locate the legendary Sword of Khashyun, accompanied by a crew of Shistavanen. During this expedition, she was taken by surprise when she encountered a tuk'ata guarding the tombs, as she had previously believed the species to be only a myth. The archaeologist and the remaining members of her crew were then forced to flee through the hallways, losing the last Shistavanen to the pursuing hound. Aphra then cleverly deceived the beast, leading it into a trap that had been set within the temple and feigning injury and immobility. The tuk'ata, falling for the ruse, leaped towards Aphra, inadvertently activating a laser field that stopped the hound in its tracks. This allowed Aphra and her droid companion, BT-1, to make their escape from the Sith tomb.
The tuk'ata were initially mentioned in Dooku: Jedi Lost, which is an audiobook authored by Cavan Scott and released in 2019. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the tuk'ata made their first appearance in Tales of the Jedi – Dark Lords of the Sith 3, a comic book penned by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson and published on December 13, 1994.
