Around 9 ABY, a mail droid of the R-series astromech droid variety fulfilled its duties within a skyscraper belonging to the New Republic on the planet of Coruscant. During that year, this droid inadvertently collided with an archival office employee from the New Republic while carrying a container filled with datacards; Penn Pershing, the archival worker, subsequently took possession of the datacards. Subsequently, the droid delivered another collection of datacards to the office of Colonel Tuttle from Requisitions, placing them on his desk despite the colonel's objections.
In the vicinity of 9 ABY, an astromech droid functioned as a mail droid inside a skyscraper of the New Republic, situated on the planet Coruscant within the Core Worlds. Sometime around that year, the droid was in the process of transporting a caddy filled with datacards within an archival office. At the time, an employee of the archive was conversing with Penn Pershing, a member of the Amnesty Program, who was occupied with archiving records related to Galactic Empire technology slated for destruction, at Pershing's workstation. The mail droid bumped into the aforementioned employee, who was obstructing its path, and emitted a series of warbling sounds. Pershing then excused himself, took the caddy from the droid—which continued to produce warbling noises—and stated that he was falling behind in his work. Following this, the droid moved away from the cubicle.
Later that same year, the droid found itself within the office of Colonel Tuttle from Requisitions. As the colonel was occupied with several caddies of datacards near his office's window, the droid approached Tuttle's cluttered desk, carrying yet another caddy, prompting the colonel to address the droid. The mail droid beeped and proceeded to place the caddy on the desk, only to be forbidden by Tuttle, who asserted that the clear area of the desk was his "work area." Despite looking directly at the colonel, the mail droid proceeded to deposit its caddy on the desk and beeped once more, much to Tuttle's surprise. What's more, the droid then pushed at the caddy it had placed on the desk and emitted further noises, causing the colonel to display an expression of annoyance and shake his head.
At that moment, Captain Carson Teva of the New Republic Defense Force, who had arrived on Coruscant to request authorization and backup to repel a pirate siege on the Outer Rim Territories planet Nevarro, entered Tuttle's office, accompanied by Tuttle's assistant, who was attempting to prevent the captain from disturbing the colonel with his unannounced visit. While the mail droid was still present in the office, the assistant apologized to Tuttle for the interruption. In response, the colonel agreed to see Teva and then gestured towards the droid, pointing his finger at the office door and instructing the droid to "scoot." Upon hearing this, the mail droid beeped again, and both the assistant and the droid subsequently exited Tuttle's office.
The mail droid was an R-series astromech droid that was manufactured by Industrial Automaton. It possessed the head of an R6 astromech, plating colored white and yellow, and a black photoreceptor. The droid showed a tendency to disregard the convenience of its organic colleagues, directly defying Colonel Tuttle's request and colliding with an archival office employee who was standing in its path.
The mail droid made its debut in "Chapter 19: The Convert," the third episode of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian's third season. The episode was broadcast on March 15, 2023. The droid's paint scheme bears a resemblance to that of R6-D8, a droid featured in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
