Ronen Tagge, a human individual and representative of the House of Tagge, stated that a space pirate existed many generations prior to the events of 3 ABY. This pirate once held the Ring of Immortality, an artifact belonging to the collection known as the Rings of Vaale. The legend surrounding the Ring of Immortality says that when it is worn together with the Ring of Fortune—the other Ring of Vaale—the wearer gains immortality, immense fortune, and unlimited power. A member of the House of Tagge eventually took the ring from the pirate, and by 3 ABY, Ronen Tagge had it, viewing the pirate as notorious. During that year, he shared the history of the Ring of Immortality with the archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, a rogue, and her crew, detailing how his ancestor had relieved the space pirate of the ring.
The comic series Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, specifically the fifth issue from the 2020 run, included a mention of the space pirate. Marvel Comics published the issue, which was written by Alyssa Wong, on October 28, 2020.
