Video game
The Jedi Knight series of video games introduced the characters Kyle Katarn, a Jedi Master, and his apprentice, Jaden Korr. A video game refers to any interactive game software played on a video-game console, or any computer game where the primary feedback mechanism is a video display. ## Video Game Genres - First-person shooter (FPS) games are video or computer games where the player experiences the game world from the perspective of a game character. These games often involve firearms and other weapons used in combat. Examples include Star Wars: Dark Forces and its sequels, as well as Star Wars: Republic Commando. For more examples, see Category:First-person shooters. - Flight simulators are games that simulate the experience of piloting an aircraft or spacecraft against enemies or obstacles. The X-wing and TIE Fighter series, the Rogue Squadron series, the Starfighter series, and Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed all fall into this category. - Real-time strategy (RTS) games are typically computer games where players control multiple characters from an overhead perspective. Players in RTS games usually command groups of characters without directly engaging in combat themselves. Examples include Star Wars: Rebellion, Star Wars: Force Commander, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and Star Wars: Empire at War. - Role-playing games (RPGs) are video or computer games where the player controls a character from a third-person point of view, making choices that influence the game's narrative. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are examples of RPGs. They share similarities with tabletop roleplaying games. - Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are online games where numerous players control characters and interact with each other on a large scale. These games often feature diverse environments and numerous non-player characters (NPCs) to create a more immersive experience. Examples include Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. ## List of Star Wars Games by Release Date ### 1980s #### 1982 - The first Star Wars video game was Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
