A necklace, specifically a data crystal one, was in the possession of Xet, a Falleen who operated as a Crimson Dawn spy inside the ranks of the Black Sun. This necklace held sensitive information regarding Black Sun, including details about its internal structure, ongoing operations, key personnel, and records detailing Crimson Dawn's successful placement of operatives within various organizations across the galaxy. Furthermore, it stored Crimson Dawn's confidential access codes and cryptographic keys.
While aboard the Crimson Dawn flagship, known as the Vermillion, during the Auction for Han Solo, the necklace was pilfered from Xet. The culprit was the independent archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, who sought to uncover Black Sun's secrets for her employer, Head of Tagge Corporation Domina Tagge. Following Aphra's capture by Crimson Dawn forces, the necklace was placed in a gallery on the Vermillion, only to be retrieved later by Aphra and the smuggler Sana Starros.
Subsequently, Aphra sliced into the necklace to examine its contents, and she made a copy of the ciphers and access codes, storing them on the Ark Angel IV. Aphra then handed over the necklace to Tagge, who recognized that the data within had the potential to cripple Black Sun. Later, when Aphra was under the control of the Spark Eternal, it utilized the copied codes to infiltrate the Vermillion again, in search of the droids 0-0-0 and BT-1.
