Chelli Lona Aphra, a human female, commenced her archaeology doctorate studies at the university in 11 BBY, and shortly thereafter, she and Yoshi became romantically involved. However, immediately following their initial encounter, Yoshi contracted Wookiee flu.
Aphra found the manifestation of the illness' symptoms so repulsive that she chose to terminate the relationship. She later shared this reason with her new romantic partner, Sana Starros, who was also a student at the same university. In 0 ABY, Aphra remembered her past relationship with Yoshi and the illness Yoshi suffered from while creating a recording specifically for Starros.
During the Imperial Era, Yoshi, a female person, was a student at the University of Bar'leth. This university was located on the Core Worlds planet called Bar'leth. At the same time, the human female Chelli Lona Aphra was also studying there. She began working towards her archaeology doctorate in 11 BBY. Soon after, she and Yoshi became lovers. Immediately following their first encounter with Aphra, Yoshi was struck with Wookiee flu and began experiencing symptoms. The aspiring archaeologist found the level of snot and vomit so disgusting that she decided to end their relationship.
Later, Aphra started a relationship with Sana Starros, a fellow archaeology student. Starros knew about Aphra's relationship with Yoshi. In a conversation, Starros inquired if Aphra was involved with anyone else. Aphra jokingly replied that she had trouble keeping track of her relationships. Then, she told Starros about Yoshi's flu, describing the symptoms and telling her new lover not to picture it because it was "too gross." Following this, Aphra confessed that she was not involved with anyone besides Starros.
In 0 ABY, Chelli, now a rogue archaeologist and doctor, created a recording for Starros to be heard after her death. In the recording, Aphra recounted several events from her life. This included her relationship with Yoshi and the Wookiee flu Yoshi contracted, as well as the conversation she had with Starros about Yoshi.
Yoshi was mentioned in flashback sequences in the 2020 audiobook, Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original, authored by Sarah Kuhn.
