Zaloriis

Zaloriis, a location populated by the Zalorians, was the site of a campaign around 3 ABY – not long before the Battle of Hoth. This year saw a revolt by the Zalorians against the Galactic Empire. Maximilian Veers, a human male, distinguished himself through his strategic brilliance, bravery, and command skills during this campaign, securing an Imperial victory by implementing innovative strategies. The Zaloriis conflict, among others, contributed to Veers' subsequent promotion to general within the Imperial Army, leading to his assignment to Darth Vader's Death Squadron under the Sith Lord. Furthermore, the planet was referenced in the Galactic Explorer's Guide, authored by the pirate Hondo Ohnaka together with his protocol droid DK-RA-43 following the Battle of Starkiller Base in 34 ABY.

Behind the scenes

The first canon mention of Zaloriis occurred in Adam Gidwitz's children's book, So You Want to Be a Jedi?, from 2015. This book is a retelling of the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Within Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Zaloriis, a barren and sandy world, was initially referenced in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent, which was released on November 7, 2001. Later, it appeared in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released on November 11, 2001. The game allows players to command the Imperial Army, including Maximilian Veers, during the Galactic Empire campaign, where they must defeat a Rebel insurrection.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an interactive canon role-playing experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida that became available to the public starting March 1, 2022, includes several galactic maps. These maps depict an unmarked celestial body that corresponds to the location of the Zaloriis system as it is positioned in Star Wars Legends. However, a definitive connection between these two locations within the Star Wars universe has not yet been confirmed.
