Zone five was a section of the Fervse'dra asteroid belt that surrounded the planet Bothawui, a world situated in the Mid Rim. It was adjacent to zones four and six. During 22 BBY, amidst the Clone Wars conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Kaleesh Separatist General Grievous commanded his fleet consisting of Munificent-class star frigates towards Bothawui, aiming to capture the planet for the Confederacy. Upon their arrival, Grievous's fleet navigated through the asteroid field, passing through zone five, in order to engage a Republic fleet led by the Jedi General Anakin Skywalker.
As Grievous's forces drew nearer, a clone trooper stationed on the Venator-class Star Destroyer Resolute of Resolute command reported the movement of the Separatist fleet through zone five, tracking their progress on a display screen. However, Skywalker permitted the frigates to proceed beyond zone five, as this would allow the ships to be outflanked by All Terrain Tactical Enforcers that were concealed within the asteroid field.
The mention of zone five occurred in "Downfall of a Droid," which was the sixth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television show. Its initial broadcast was on November 7, 2008.
