201st Squadron

The 201st Squadron represented an infantry squadron within the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire. This squadron was operational during, or potentially even before, 14 BBY, and it was under the command of General Markon. Records indicate that the 201st, along with General Markon, were deployed to Zeffo. Their mission involved the forced removal of civilians from a village through the implementation of Imperial Code 94364.

Description

General Markon commanded the 201st Squadron, a unit comprised of stormtroopers and classified as an infantry squadron. This squadron operated as a part of the Imperial Army serving the Galactic Empire.

History

Evictions and occupation

One of the eviction notices the 201st Squadron posted on the Abandoned Village on Zeffo

Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire after the Clone Wars, Emperor Palpatine initiated a search for artifacts related to the Force. This led to the creation of Project Auger on the planet Zeffo, aimed at studying the ancient Zeffo Sages and their civilization. To facilitate this project, the Galactic Empire dispatched the 201st Squadron, led by General Markon, to Zeffo before 14 BBY. Their primary objective was to clear the area of its civilian population. General Markon accomplished this by invoking Imperial Code 94364, which granted him and the 201st the authority to evict civilians from a village and seize their properties and belongings.

Trackdown

Upon the code's implementation, squadron members forcibly removed the village's inhabitants, intending to place them in labor camps. Among those affected were Ostar and his family, along with Mirienna and Sienna. Despite the civilians' inability to resist the Empire during the eviction, Ostar created a diversion, drawing members of the 201st away from his family. This allowed them to escape, though the family lost a bag in the process. While hiding in a tunnel, Mirienna used a piece of fabric to conceal Sienna as they fled from the 201st.

After some time, Ostar managed to distance himself from the village, but he then became engaged in a fight with a stormtrooper from the unit. During this confrontation, Ostar succeeded in killing the stormtrooper, but he sustained critical injuries. Eventually, Ostar found Mirienna and Sienna in a cave, but he died due to his injuries.

Aftermath of the evictions

Later, in 14 BBY, the Jedi Cal Kestis, along with his droid companion BD-1 and the rest of the Mantis crew, travelled to Zeffo as part of a secret mission aimed at rebuilding the Jedi Order. Upon arriving at the now Abandoned Village, Kestis and BD-1 encountered an Imperial Military presence. While exploring the village and its surroundings, Kestis discovered several artifacts that resonated with him through the Force. These included the bag dropped by Oster and his family, the fabric used to hide Sienna, a helmet from the stormtrooper killed by Ostar, and Oster's skeleton. Utilizing the Force power of psychometry, Cal Kestis experienced the events involving the 201st Squadron's actions on Zeffo with Oster and his family, sharing his insights with BD-1.

Following their mission to Zeffo, Cal Kestis and his companions participated in a mission to Kashyyyk during the Galactic Empire's occupation. There, Kestis and his crew joined forces with the Partisans led by Saw Gerrera, and encountered Mirienna, who had become a member of the resistance after her experiences with the 201st Squadron on Zeffo. Kestis overheard Mirienna commenting that the situation on Kashyyyk was even worse than what she experienced on Zeffo. When Kestis inquired further, Mirienna explained that she had lived on Zeffo before the Empire's arrival, where they were defenseless, but on Kashyyyk, the presence of the Wookiees offered a chance to fight back.
