Resurrection

Resurrection was the concept of coming back to life after death. It is used in a belief in the resurrection of individual souls, believed by some to be the divine and immortal part of the human being, and some believe it is the actual vehicle by which people are resurrected. A zombie was an undead being created through the reanimation of a corpse through various methods, most commonly magick.

History

When Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano were stranded on the distant planet of Mortis, the three Jedi discovered three beings powerful with the Force: the Father who kept a balance between the light sided Daughter and the dark sided Son. In a disastrous showdown, during which Tano was infected by the dark side, the Son drained Tano's life Force and instantly killed her. The Daughter told Skywalker that she could save Tano if she used him as a conduit to channel her life force into her. They completed the procedure as the Daughter died while bringing Ahsoka back to life, resurrecting the young Jedi Padawan and purging her of the darkness.

The Nightsisters could arrange a special ritual to resuscitate the dead in the form of zombies. Grand Admiral Thrawn considered death and resurrection as common deceptions played out by both Nightsister and Jedi.

During the Battle of Endor, Darth Sidious, publicly known as Emperor Palpatine, died aboard the second Death Star. However, the dark side of the Force gave rise to powers which allowed him to return from the grave seeking further immortality until the resurrected Sith Lord was eventually permanently destroyed and killed during the Battle of Exegol by Rey, his granddaughter. Although Rey died herself, Ben Solo uses the Force to revive Rey, only to sacrifice himself in the effort to resurrect her.
