Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – Dark Lords of the Sith


Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – Dark Lords of the Sith is a miniseries in the form of a comic book set in the Star Wars Legends continuity, with the writing handled by Tom Veitch alongside Kevin J. Anderson. Serving as the second spin-off from Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, it picks up where the previous spin-off, The Freedon Nadd Uprising, left off. The run of Dark Lords of the Sith spanned from 1994 to 1995, and it was then followed by a sequel series titled The Sith War.

Plot summary

The narrative follows Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider as their peaceful existence is disrupted by an attack from the Krath against the Jedi Order. During a clandestine Jedi assembly, the Krath deploy servant droids that are secretly programmed for assassination. Numerous Jedi are injured or killed, including Arca, Qel-Droma's own master. Driven by vengeance, Qel-Droma embarks on a mission against the Krath. Throughout his quest, he faces a difficult internal battle to remain on the light side of the Force and avoid succumbing to the dark side.

While Dark Horse Comics' timeline, featured in comics published by them around the time of Star Wars: Crimson Empire, The Essential Chronology, The New Essential Chronology, and the Dark Horse Comics omnibus for Dark Lords of the Sith places Dark Lords of the Sith in 3997 BBY, the timeline presented in the article Straight from the Horse's Mouth: A Guide to the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Universe, Part 1, which appeared in Star Wars Insider 26, indicates that the Political uprising of the Empress Teta system and the Conclave at Deneba occurred in 3996 BBY, and that Exar Kun became a Dark Lord of the Sith in 3991 BBY. The timeline in Dark Horse comics like Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Golden Age of the Sith and Star Wars: The Comics Companion places Dark Lords of the Sith in 3992 BBY, about six years after The Freedon Nadd Uprising.
