The Yasaburō family heirloom lightsaber was a lightsaber owned by the Yasaburō clan on the Outer Rim planet Tao. Originally owned by a Jedi Knight who came to Tao, the Jedi entrusted the saber to an ancestor of the Yasaburō clan and trained him in lightsaber combat. Thereafter, the lightsaber became an heirloom passed down through the generations of the Yasaburō family from parent to child. Each head of family taught their successor how to wield the lightsaber and bequeathed it as inheritance. The saber was powered by a kyber crystal and produced a green blade.
During the rebellion on Tao, Yasaburō served as the head of his family and owned the lightsaber. Ochō, Yasaburō's human daughter by birth, expected to succeed her father as head-of-family. However, she joined the Galactic Empire and Yasaburō passed the saber on to his adopted Lepi daughter Lop. Lop used the family lightsaber to duel her sister in a failed attempt to reunite their family.
The Yasaburō family heirloom lightsaber appeared in "Lop & Ochō," a short film in the Star Wars: Visions series written by Sayawaka and directed by Yuki Igarashi. The short, produced by Geno Studio, released on Disney+ on September 22, 2021.
The design of the Yasaburō family heirloom lightsaber resembles that of real-life katanas, traditional Japanese swords associated with samurai.
