Aau

A Korban girl named Aau, who possessed Force-sensitivity, resided with her father, Abat, on the planet of Korba. By 19 BBY, Aau's task on Korba involved washing beasts close to the opening of a mine shaft, the same mine where Abat was employed. Following a visit from the Jedi Kratu to their residence, they both headed toward their respective workplaces. Aau, however, abandoned her duties and followed her father to a tunnel, where she discovered the entrance to a mine nestled within a mountain.

Upon entering, she encountered a cave brimming with kyber crystals and began to sing. Her voice purified the crystals, leading to the destruction of the cavern's central spire and causing the mountain's collapse. Abat then tunneled into the cave to rescue his daughter. Nevertheless, the mountain's collapse severed a bridge they were using to escape, resulting in Aau and her father falling, only to be saved from the descent by Kratu. As the Jedi employed the Force to protect them from falling rocks, Aau sang, purifying the mountain's kyber crystal. Soon after, the girl and Kratu departed from Korba, enabling the Jedi to cultivate Aau's unique ability to purify kyber.

Biography

A curious mind

Aau purified kyber crystals when she sang.

Aau, a Korban with Force-sensitivity and blue skin, was the youthful daughter of Abat, a miner. They made their home on the planet Korba, a world known for its mountains rich in kyber crystals. These crystals were essential to the Jedi Order for crafting lightsabers, their signature weapons. She spent her days washing substantial, purple beasts at a settlement near the entrance of a kyber crystal mine shaft, sharing a round dwelling with her father.

At some point, they discovered that the sound of the girl's singing had the power to purify kyber crystals, a revelation that her father considered perilous. By the time 19 BBY arrived, Aau was seen scaling a cliff with a rope, gazing at the landscape's spires, singing, and observing the arrival of Jedi Kratu's starship at her home, prompting her to rush back. Shortly before Kratu's starship landed near their dwelling, Abat and his daughter shared a meal of soup.

With no sense

Abat told Aau to stay away, and she went and laid on the ground near the Jedi starship. The child, however, did not listen to her father and eavesdropped on his and Kraut's conversation from one of her home's windows. Abat showed the Jedi a dark kyber crystal, and Aau started to sing, making her father aware of her presence.

Aau and Abat had lunch before Kratu arrived.

As a result, the girl tumbled from the window, prompting her father and Kratu to step outside. Abat began to scold his child for disobeying his instructions to stay away; however, the Jedi interjected, greeting Aau and remarking that the crystals were "calling" to her. Krau departed, and Abat cautioned his daughter about the dangers of her voice near the kyber. He voiced his worries about her safety when she was alone, urging her to learn self-control. Following this, they traveled via speeder to the settlement where they were employed.

A purifying voice

Upon reaching the settlement, Aau assisted his father in preparing his mining gear. Abat wished her a good day at work before leaving. Aau proceeded to wash a purple beast using a brush. She also used a thin paddle to remove a shelled insect from the creature's body, placing the insect on the ground and giggling as it disappeared into a rock.

She left her work area, grabbed a mining helmet from a wall, and jumped to a spire. She walked to another spire and climbed a cliff to a tunnel, where she encountered her father and the miner Attu. Ducking and turning her head to the right, Aau saw another mining entrance and ran to the floor, screaming as she almost fell off a cliff. Attu, having heard her scream, looked down at the girl, who hid behind a rock, with the miner claiming that rock mice had caused the sound.

Aau then went into the mine she had spotted, discovering a cavern filled with numerous kyber crystals. She began to sing, purifying the crystals, but was interrupted by her father, causing the cave to collapse. Abat noticed the spire was shaking, sliding down toward his child with a rope and bringing her out of the cave to its entrance.

Into the stars

The pair and Attu then attempted to escape across a wooden bridge; however, the cave's collapse had damaged the nearby spires, and the resulting chasm caused one side of the bridge to break, sending Abat falling. Aau tried to hold one of the poles holding the bridge, but she failed, crying and falling with her father. Kratu then jumped down moments before they hit the ground, using the Force to stop their fall and creating a Force shield to protect them from the stones falling above them.

With her eyes closed, Aau sang, purifying the spires' crystals and halting the spires' collapse. She buried her face in Abat's shoulder as he kneeled in amazement. Kratu then offered to help Aau develop her voice if she accompanied her, telling Abat that they could not dictate their "calling," only decide whether to answer it.

Shortly after, Aau and her father sat on the edge of a cliff, sharing a pod, which they ate. Abat told her she was the first Korban to leave for the stars, and she boarded Kratu's ship. She waved to his father as the vessel rose to the sky.

Personality and traits

Aau was a curious girl with green hair, blue skin, and pink eyes. She cried Aba's name as he fell from the bridge; before leaving Korba, she told her father that she would miss him. The girl longed to sing, and was filled with a desire to connect with the kyber crystals through singing.

Equipment

Aau wore a blue skirt, a light jacket with a brown belt, which featured two pockets, a red collar, light brown trousers, and two brown shoes.

Skills and abilities

Aau possessed the unique ability to purify kyber crystals through her singing, a gift that Kratu greatly admired. The Jedi admitted to never witnessing anything comparable to the girl's voice throughout her extensive travels across "thousand stars."

Behind the scenes

Aau made her debut in the short film "Aau's Song," produced by Triggerfish studio.
