Alph (Rogue)

In the year 3 ABY, Alph, a male Human pilot, served with distinction in Rogue Squadron of the Rebel Alliance. When the Alliance discovered that a vast Imperial armada was in transit, carrying a Teezl creature, which amplified communications, to the Empire's capital planet, Coruscant, Alph was among the four Rogues selected to pilot captured Imperial TIE fighters directly into the armada to eliminate the creature. After acquiring the necessary recognition codes for entering the fleet, the four, under the designation Flying Bantha Squadron, commenced their mission in the TIEs and successfully integrated into the armada. Their attack against the armada's Star Destroyers triggered an immediate counterattack that resulted in death for Alph, but the mission commander, Luke Skywalker, managed to destroy the Teezl creature.

Biography

During the war between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, Alph was a male Human who fought for the Rebels. He was a starfighter pilot within the ranks of Rogue Squadron in 3 ABY. Around the time that the Alliance discovered the Empire's construction of a secret armada, Alph was stationed at Haven Base, located on the planet Arbra during the initial part of 3 ABY. The armada, one of the most substantial in Imperial history, was tasked with transporting a Teezl, a unique being capable of naturally amplifying hyperspace communications, to Coruscant, the Empire's capital world.

A plan was devised to strike at the armada, leading to the Alliance's implementation of Operation Earplug. This operation involved acquiring four Imperial TIE fighters from Orion Ferret, a weapons trader. These TIEs were subsequently used to seize an Imperial base on the planet Spindrift, securing the armada's route coordinates. With the Alliance finally prepared to infiltrate the enemy fleet, Alph was chosen as one of the mission's pilots. Alph, along with a team of Rebels, traveled to an uninhabited planetoid situated near the armada's path, where they transmitted a distress signal. This signal was intercepted by a distant reconnaissance patrol of four Imperial TIE fighters. After X-wing fighters from the Rebel side destroyed the Imperial fighters, the sole survivor was compelled to disclose the recognition codes needed to enter the armada.

Alph's fighter is destroyed

Alph, alongside three other Rogues—Shira Brie, Hanc Thorben, and mission commander Luke Skywalker—boarded their TIE fighters, forming Flying Bantha Squadron. The TIEs had undergone modifications, limiting them to firing only six laser bursts at standard strength, after which they would release their energy reserves in a shot powerful enough to penetrate even the strongest shields. Furthermore, signal transceivers were integrated into the craft, enabling the Rebel pilots to identify each other within the enemy fleet. Upon reaching the armada and gaining entry using the stolen codes, the four Flying Banthas each selected an Imperial Star Destroyer and launched an attack. The Imperials launched a swift counterattack, firing indiscriminately, initially hitting their own ships but eventually destroying Alph's TIE with laser fire. Alph died in the resulting explosion, but Skywalker successfully eliminated the Teezl, securing victory for the day.

Personality and traits

As a member of Rogue Squadron, Alph was among the Rebel Alliance's elite pilots. His life ended during the battle of the secret armada, piloting a TIE Fighter. He was characterized by his dark skin.
