Ann Gella

Ann Gella was a Twi'lek female of Rutian descent, originating from the planet of Ryloth. Both she and her twin Tann Gella were victims of slavery. The Hutt Jabba Desilijic Tiure sold them, and they became the property of Sebulba, a podracer. In the year 32 BBY, the twins accompanied Sebulba to the planet Tatooine, as he intended to participate in the Boonta Eve Classic race held near the spaceport of Mos Espa.

Before the race commenced, the Gella twins assisted the Dug with his preparations. Ann tended to his toenails, while Tann massaged his shoulders. He was seated with his podracer in the hangar of the Mos Espa Grand Arena. Sebulba appreciated the attention from the attractive masseuses, although the primary reason for their presence was to guard his vehicle from rival pilots and race officials. Ann Gella possessed blue skin and brown eyes. She and her twin sister wore identical yellow net outfits, complemented by a gray headpiece and a black collar.

Behind the scenes

The role of Ann Gella was played by the actress Nifa Hindes in the motion picture Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The movie was released to the public on May 19, 1999. Nifa performed alongside her real-life twin sister, Nishan Hindes, who portrayed Tann Gella in the same scene. The filming took place on B Stage at Leavesden Studios.

Within the established Star Wars canon, Ann Gella's name was initially revealed in the mobile card game titled Star Wars: Force Collection, which was originally released in 2013. Despite the fact that the launch of Force Collection happened before the Star Wars canon was reset in 2014, Lucasfilm Story Group member Leland Chee verified that the game was consistently updated to align with canon. The name was first used in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically in Star Wars Episode I Who's Who: A Pocket Guide to the Characters of The Phantom Menace, a reference book authored by Ryder Windham and made available on April 21, 1999.
