Asteroid-Helix

The Asteroid-Helix was a collection of space rocks, more formally known as an asteroid field, situated in proximity to the world of Karga. One particular asteroid within this field, designated Asteroid Helix 13-v, housed an ancient temple dedicated to the Force, attracting numerous pilgrims throughout the years. Considerably after the cult's disappearance, the Rebel Alliance briefly utilized Asteroid Helix 13-v as a makeshift headquarters, which subsequently underwent inspection by the Galactic Empire after the rebels had vacated the premises.

Description

Situated in the vicinity of Karga, the Asteroid-Helix was an asteroid field made up of various asteroids with differing shapes and sizes arranged in a spiral pattern resembling a cylinder. Asteroid Helix 13-v, a specific asteroid within the Asteroid-Helix, was substantial enough to accommodate the construction of a sizable structure inside. Furthermore, Asteroid Helix 13-v possessed a sufficient atmosphere to allow humans to survive on its surface.

History

Before the time of the Galactic Empire, a Force cult belonging to the J'doon school established a settlement on Asteroid Helix 13-v, one of the asteroids comprising the field, transforming it into a Force shrine. Over the course of the shrine's existence, it received visits from a multitude of pilgrims, but was eventually left deserted.

By 3 ABY, a cell of the Alliance to Restore the Republic had temporarily established a base on Asteroid Helix 13-v, preparing for their relocation to their subsequent headquarters on the ice planet Hoth. During an exploration of the Asteroid-Helix, the scholar Korin Aphra encountered the rebel cell, who provided him with supplies and instructed him to leave. After the rebels departed the shrine, they left behind concealed cameras.

After his capture by the Empire, Korin Aphra disclosed the location of the rebel base, prompting the Sith Lord Darth Vader to journey to the Asteroid-Helix alongside Aphra and his daughter, the renegade archaeologist Chelli Aphra. The two Aphras conducted an investigation of the shrine, uncovering evidence of the rebels' presence. Following a Force vision, Vader declared the expedition complete, ordering TIE bombers to obliterate the asteroid after their departure.
