Aut-O, a commander in the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, was a ST-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid. Serving with the military rank of commander within the naval forces, this droid, designated Aut-O, led a Separatist fleet in 20 BBY. Tasked with safeguarding an encryption module vital to a significant Separatist plan, Aut-O commanded from a Providence-class Dreadnought. However, a squad of Galactic Republic droids infiltrated his fleet and flagship and successfully stole the module. Aut-O personally engaged the intruders, but both he and his droid forces were ultimately destroyed.
During the time of the Clone Wars, Commander Aut-O was in charge of a fleet that primarily consisted of Recusant-class light destroyers along with a single Providence-class Dreadnought. The encryption module needed to decode a transmission from General Grievous to his allies was located on his flagship. Simultaneously, D-Squad gained access to Aut-O's command vessel using a hijacked Confederate shuttle, with the goal of absconding with the encryption module. The droid squad, under the leadership of Colonel Meebur Gascon, bypassed the battle droid defenses and reached C-Deck, the module's storage location. Noticing several energy fluctuations, Aut-O made the decision to investigate the anomalies. Accompanied by a number of B1-series battle droids and B2-series super battle droids, Aut-O proceeded to C-Deck, where he found D-Squad in the act of attempting to steal the encryption module.
Initially, he aimed his weapon at R2-D2, but the resourceful astromech deactivated the gravity, causing all the droids to float without control. The Republic forces decimated Aut-O's escort, while Aut-0 attempted to prevent R2 and eliminate Colonel Gascon. Aut-O, in his effort, grabbed onto R2's legs, attempting to restrain the droid, but R2 used his rocket boosters to burn and melt the super tactical droid's appendages. Unexpectedly, Gascon leaped onto Aut-O's head, striking the droid's optical sensors. Aut-O was only able to defeat Gascon by shaking his head, but the persistent Zilkin returned and jumped back at Aut-O, who began firing upon him. WAC-47, wielding a droid leg, struck Aut-O unexpectedly. Aut-O retaliated and knocked down WAC, who was distracted by Gascon. With WAC incapacitated, Aut-O continued attempting to pull down R2, who had reached the module. Aut-O attempted to simultaneously pull down the astromech and swat Gascon who was nearby.
Ultimately, WAC-47 re-engaged the gravity. Aut-O fell and crushed Gascon. Upon seeing this, R2 intentionally landed on Aut-O, severing his head. Consequently, D-Squad gained control of the encryption module. However, after Aut-O's demise, he transmitted a distress signal that activated an alarm. Nevertheless, patrolling battle droids mistook D-Squad for crew members, enabling the squad to escape Aut-O's flagship.
Aut-O, an ST-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid, possessed yellow sensors and a height of 1.94 meters. Aut-O was intrigued when his battle droids informed him about a temporary power disruption on C-Deck. Following a subsequent energy anomaly on C-Deck, he decided to personally investigate the situation.
Aut-O was equipped with a built-in intruder detection system. The decapitation of Aut-O by R2-D2 triggered this, sending out a distress signal and activating an intruder alert. Aut-O was an effective leader, possessing armor and advanced strategic programming. Furthermore, he was programmed to resist enemy interrogation.
While leading his troops through C-Deck to capture D-Squad, Aut-O carried an E-5 blaster rifle.
Aut-O's debut was in "Secret Weapons," the tenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 5. Dee Bradley Baker, who also voiced all the clone troopers in the show, provided his voice.
