A conflict on the planet Eos transpired in 32 BBY. This Eos battle saw the combined forces of the pirate Nym, alongside his newly acquired allies Vana Sage, Rhys Dallows, and Reti, clash with the forces belonging to the Trade Federation. The allied group, each with their own motivations, aimed to obliterate the Trade Federation's droid production facilities located on Eos, thereby hindering a planned invasion of Naboo. Rhys Dallows and Reti initiated the engagement by assaulting the orbital defenses of the Federation. Navigating through swarms of droid starfighters and fields of mines, the pair successfully eliminated four satellite units responsible for relaying targeting data to a ground-based Planetary Gun, a weapon capable of striking targets in space. With the external defenses neutralized, Vana Sage and Nym descended to the planet's surface, systematically destroying every structure present. Despite their efforts, the allies arrived too late to completely prevent the Naboo invasion, but they continued their fight against the Trade Federation's occupation on Naboo.
Rhys Dallows found himself adrift after his N-1 starfighter was crippled and his wingmate was shot down while protecting his Queen. He was discovered by Reti, a scavenger. Reti brought him to Vana Sage's base, who was at the time engaged in a job for the Trade Federation on Eos. Sage was forced to abandon her assignment when the Federation attempted to assassinate her. During the ensuing fight, Sage managed to destroy the shield protecting the Trade Federation's droid factory. She returned to her base before Rhys and Reti, only to find Nym waiting for her. Nym reclaimed his bomber and imprisoned Sage. Reti and Rhys arrived and freed Vana. Sage and Dallows exchanged their stories as they repaired his N-1 starfighter. As they discussed taking action, Nym returned with the news that the Federation had taken his base. Rhys revealed their plan to attack the droid factory, and Nym agreed to join their cause.
As they neared Eos, Dallows and Reti took the lead in creating an opening in the space defenses, paving the way for Nym and Sage to launch their attack on the surface. The Trade Federation retaliated by unleashing fire from a planetary cannon. Furthermore, the Federation deployed droid starfighters and mines within the planet's orbit. Displaying unwavering resolve, Reti and Rhys pressed forward, destroying a small freighter convoy that was in the process of departing. Subsequently, the two pilots targeted and destroyed satellites responsible for transmitting targeting data to the cannon on the surface. Amidst the chaos, the Trade Federation attempted to launch a Superfreighter from the planet. However, Dallows detected the freighter and promptly destroyed it. They then destroyed the remaining four satellites, clearing the path for Nym and Sage to reach the surface.
Supported by Sage, Nym made his way to the Trade Federation facilities. Following advice from Sage's droid, the duo prioritized attacking the landing pad to prevent the arrival of enemy reinforcements. They systematically destroyed the platform's defensive turrets, followed by the platform itself. In a similar fashion, the manufacturing plant, power station, and main factory were demolished. The command center and planetary cannon were also bombed into oblivion. As Nym flew away from the destruction, Rhys informed him of trouble on Naboo.
Despite successfully destroying the droid factory, Dallows, Nym, Sage, and Reti were unable to prevent the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo. The group then journeyed to Naboo to assist the locals in resisting the Trade Federation's occupation.
Following the loss of their facilities on Eos, the Trade Federation relocated the majority of their droid production to Geonosis. Until 22 BBY, Geonosis served as the primary producer of droid armies for the Trade Federation, leading up to the opening battle of the Clone Wars.
This article is based on two back-to-back missions from the 2001 video game Star Wars: Starfighter. The player assumes the role of Rhys Dallows in the first mission, "Taking the Offensive." In "The Crippling Blow," the mission on the planet's surface, the player switches to Nym. Destroying the superfreighter and the planetary gun are optional objectives; this article assumes the player completed them.
