"BB-8 and the Jungle Adventure - Chapter 2" represents the second installment within the Star Wars Roll Out series of animated shorts. Its initial debut occurred on YouTube on August 16, 2019.
The opening sequence showcases BB-8 and a Star Wars ball taking the lead, succeeded by Rey, Maz Kanata, Finn, Captain Phasma, a pair of stormtroopers, Ben Solo, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and a trio of porgs.
Disoriented within the uncharted jungles of the planet D'Qar, BB-8 encounters a strange creature; having initially licked the droid's spherical body, the creature now coils up and rolls into the dense, tall grass. Behind the droid, an impostor appears, a precise duplicate of BB-8.
Elsewhere, the other droids, the reason BB-8 got lost in the first place, have united in an attempt to rescue him. This group consists of a sizable blue labor droid, a smaller torch droid, an orange droid with four legs, a yellow heavy loader droid known as B-U4D, and a GNK power droid designated 4B-EG-6. The torch droid projects a holographic map displaying BB-8's position within the jungle, revealing his considerable distance from the rest of the group. Upon seeing this, the droids advance resolutely, determined to save their rolling companion.
BB-8 scrutinizes the doppelganger, which in turn attempts to mimic BB-8's actions, maintaining its disguise. However, when BB-8 activates his lighter, the imposter becomes frightened and reverts to its original form, identified as the same strange creature the droid had previously encountered. The creature then demonstrates its abilities by transforming into a rock, followed by a plant. BB-8 becomes agitated by the situation and attempts to escape. Unfortunately, a spider-like creature blocks his path, and he collides with it.
The droids on their rescue mission continue their journey, but as they progress deeper, the jungle's atmosphere becomes increasingly menacing.
BB-8 manages to evade the spider creature's attacks for a period, but ultimately, he is trapped in a corner with no means of escape, and the creature ensnares him in a web.
The torch droid emits a piercing siren, signaling to the other droids that BB-8 is nearby. It even displays the holo-map again, to reinforce this information. The droids are overjoyed by the news and surge forward with enthusiasm.
As BB-8 hangs suspended within the creature's web, strung between towering trees, he observes that the shape-shifter has also been captured.
