Bravais

Bravais, a celestial object within the Inner Rim, was characterized by its arid deserts and elevated temperatures. The native plant and animal life had adapted to a subterranean existence during the day on this world. It served as the original homeworld for the sentient Bravaisian species.

Description

Bravais, a rocky world, could be found within the Inner Rim Territories, also known as the Slice. Its location was marked as O-9 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Furthermore, it was positioned along a hyperspace route that provided connections to the planets of Onderon and Rajtiri.

Bravais was in orbit around a very hot star, resulting in surface conditions dominated by scorching deserts of sand and dirt. These deserts were home to plants featuring tubers, alongside a diverse array of creatures such as insects that resided in underground burrows and nests. The plants only extended their feeding tendrils above the surface at night, and the creatures similarly emerged only during periods of darkness, causing the deserts of Bravais to appear barren during daylight hours.

History

A journal by an artist, dedicated to the native Bravaisian species of Bravais, contained a mention of the planet. This journal was later restored, expanded upon, and put on display at the Graf Archive sometime after 34 ABY.

Inhabitants

The sentient Bravaisians called Bravais their homeworld. They evolved from pack hunter creatures, of a specific type, that utilized their snouts and tongues to locate insects and tubers. The Bravaisians adopted a nocturnal way of life to escape the heat of Bravais and to shield their small, light-sensitive eyes. When traveling off-world, most Bravaisians wore protective goggles, and some travelers even opted for the surgical removal of their eyes.

Behind the scenes

The reference book Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy by Jason Fry, published in 2016, marked the introduction of Bravais.
