The Graf Archive was a sprawling collection of publicly and historically significant materials. Established prior to the First Order's defeat, it stretched across much of the surface of Orchis 2 and was named for, and intimately linked to, the Graf family.

Spanning the majority of the surface of the moon Orchis 2, the Graf Archive housed numerous databanks, galleries, and shelving units. These spaces contained texts, historical relics, artistic creations, and even preserved examples of plant and animal life from across the galaxy. Items that lacked immediate identification were relegated to the subterranean Shadow Stacks, where they awaited processing, sometimes for many years.
The Graf Archive's staff included archivists, a Head Curator, a Director, and a Deputy Director. Librarian droids were also utilized. Lina Graf at one time held the position of head curator.

For centuries, a complex on Orchis 2 served as the ancestral home of the Grafs. They were one of the wealthiest families in the Galactic Republic during the High Republic Era, until they somehow relinquished ownership and eventually forgot about its continued existence.
At some point, the Galactic Empire assumed control of the location, repurposing it as a library for a number of years, before they too abandoned it. Eventually, descendants of the original Grafs, the siblings Lina and Milo Graf, rediscovered their family's ancestral home.
The establishment of the Graf Archive occurred sometime before the collapse of the First Order in 35 ABY. At that time, Lina Graf oversaw the Archive, and her grand-nephew Emil Graf aided in the library's expansion by gathering information during his voyages aboard the Star Herald. Notably, he succeeded in locating the Lost Library of Nelgenam.
Later, Amel Fortoon took on the role of director of the Graf Archive. During Fortoon's directorship, the renowned historian Eloc Throno came to the Archive to study cartography.
Subsequently, during Fortoon's leadership, a trainee archivist unearthed a collection of planetary maps in the Shadow Stacks. These maps, attributed to the celebrated Ithorian artist Gammit Chond, were released by the archive as the Galactic Atlas. While Xoddam Lothipp was serving as Deputy Director, a restoration initiative began, and a task force, headed by archive droid TR-33NA, was formed to search the library for historically significant artifacts. One of their initial major finds, discovered deep within the stacks, was an old journal containing sketches and descriptions of alien species and cultures from across the galaxy. Although identifying the author proved difficult, the sketches' artistic style bore a resemblance to that of Gammit Chond.
