Orchis 2 was a moon of the terrestrial variety. It served as the location for the Graf Archive, a repository containing numerous records and artifacts. The Graf family considered this moon their home, and the Galactic Empire once held it under their control. After the Empire's departure, the Graf Archive suffered damages. Milo Graf, a human male, endeavored to repair the archive with the help of the droid CR-8R, only to be betrayed and fatally electrocuted by the droid. At a later time, Eloc Throno, a historian, pursued his cartography studies on Orchis 2 under the tutelage of Director Amel Fortoon.

For many centuries, Orchis 2 functioned as the home of the Graf family. This family was a powerful group of hyperspace prospectors during the High Republic Era. Subsequently, the Galactic Empire seized control of the moon, utilizing the Graf Archive as a library for a number of years. Upon abandoning Orchis 2, the Empire inflicted damage upon various databanks and destroyed several texts. Sometime between 4 ABY and 5 ABY, the human male [Milo Graf](/article/milo_graf], accompanied by the droid CR-8R, nicknamed "Crater", journeyed to the moon with the intention of restoring the archive. Milo contacted his sister, Lina Graf, inquiring about her return. She responded that Orchis 2 was not their home.
Milo expressed his surprise at the library's continued existence, a sentiment echoed by his sister, who stated that none of their family was aware of it. CR-8R and Milo then informed her about the remnants left by the Empire, which included diagrams of Fortress Vader. This fortress was the castle of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader, situated on the Outer Rim Territories planet Mustafar. Following Lina's termination of the transmission, Milo recounted a dream to CR-8R. After the dream was shared, the droid electrocuted Milo, asserting that he was acting under the orders of his Dark Lord. CR-8R then transported the unconscious Milo to Mustafar.
The historian Eloc Throno once studied cartography on Orchis 2, under the guidance of Director [Amel Fortoon](/article/amel_fortoon]. Throno later referenced the moon in his travel guide, Traveler's Guide to Batuu. The moon also received mention in an artist's journal, which was restored, expanded upon, and exhibited in the Graf Archive at a time no earlier than 34 ABY. A considerable time after 34 ABY, the archive encompassed a significant portion of the moon's surface. Fortoon mentioned both Orchis 2 and the facility in the introduction to a collection of ancient hand-drawn maps that had been restored and collected by the archive.
The Graf Archive, a vast repository of records and artifacts managed by Director Fortoon, was located on Orchis 2. Unidentified items were relocated to the archive's underground section, known as the Shadow Stacks.
Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, a 2016 reference book authored by Emil Fortune, was the first source to mention Orchis 2. Orchis 2 made its initial appearance in Star Wars Adventures: Ghosts of Vader's Castle 1, the debut issue of the comic-book miniseries Star Wars Adventures: Ghosts of Vader's Castle. The comic was penned by Cavan Scott, with illustrations by Francesco Francavilla and Megan Levens, and was released by IDW Publishing on September 22, 2021.
