A circular saw utilized by a Pistoeka sabotage droid. A buzz saw, alternatively called a circular saw, was a tool designed for cutting. It featured a circular metal component that rotated, with a series of sharpened blades extending from its outer edge. Numerous droid varieties were equipped with buzz saws, notably astromech droids along with toy droids.

In the year 230 BBY, the Nihil pirate group employed a significantly altered buzz saw as a weapon against Jedi Masters Yoda and Kantam Sy during the Battle of the Corellian Shipyards. During the era of the Clone Wars, Pistoeka sabotage droids carried circular saws as part of their weaponry. This allowed them to slice through the hulls of enemy starships in the midst of battle. In 9 BBY, L0-LA59 made use of her saw to sever the ropes binding Leia Organa during her kidnapping. Similarly, in 4 ABY, R2-D2 deployed his circular saw to liberate both himself and his companions from an Ewok trap during their mission on Endor.
