Codia I existed as a planet situated within the Mid Rim Territories. It was in orbit around the Codian dwarf star and had two moons that circled it, one being the Codian Moon and the other being tidally locked with the planet's star. The Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi made reference to Codia I within his personal journals, and it was also documented on a galactic map found in the book titled Traveler's Guide to Batuu.
Codia I, sometimes shortened to just Codia, was a planet that could be found in the Codia system of the Mid Rim Territories, specifically at grid coordinate H-15 on the Standard Galactic Grid. It held the first orbital position around the Codian dwarf star and shared its name with the settlement of New Codia. Two moons circled the planet, one being the Codian Moon, which was covered in forests and moss, and the other moon that was tidally locked to Codia I's star. Despite this, the darker side of the tidally locked moon was lit by planetshine.
Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, visited the Codia system on a mission to Codia I's second moon somewhere between 44 BBY and 32 BBY. During that time, Kenobi made a point to Jinn that the planet illuminated the second moon. Around 0 BBY, Kenobi made a brief note of Codia I in his journals. Also, at some point, the historian Eloc Throno included the planet's location on a map of the galaxy in his book, Traveler's Guide to Batuu.
The first mention of Codia within the official Star Wars canon was on a galactic map featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a boxed set for Star Wars Roleplaying by Fantasy Flight Games released in 2016. The planet was specifically identified as Codia I in the second issue of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan comic book series, written by Christopher Cantwell and published by Marvel Comics on June 29, 2022.
