Darial Anglethorn

Darial Anglethorn was a moisture farmer of the Human female persuasion, who hailed from the homeworld of Beheboth. She was also a peacekeeper who later achieved the distinction of becoming the very first representative for Beheboth within the New Republic Senate. Anglethorn not only owned but also managed the most extensive moisture farm found across Beheboth. When the world's farmers, living in an arid environment, faced threats from brigand incursions around 3 ABY, Anglethorn stepped up to orchestrate and command the defensive measures. She subsequently collaborated with Rebel icon Luke Skywalker, playing an instrumental part in the brigands' downfall. Later, Anglethorn secured the position of elected peacekeeper for the settlement of Prosperity, all while continuing her farm operations and fulfilling her duties in the New Republic Senate. Despite being mildly Force-sensitive without her explicit knowledge, she would eventually seek Skywalker's assistance once more in 8 ABY to delve into the puzzling death of a man discovered on her property.

Biography

Battling brigands

Darial Anglethorn recruits Luke Skywalker to defend Beheboth against brigands.

As a female of the Human race, Darial Anglethorn oversaw the operations of the largest moisture farm situated on her homeworld, the parched planet of Beheboth, during the era of the Galactic Civil War. In the vicinity of 3 ABY, numerous farms and residences in the neighboring areas began experiencing raids by mysterious brigands, who materialized seemingly from nowhere, absconding with every last drop of water. Anglethorn's farm eventually became a target itself. During this period, Anglethorn assumed a leadership position within the nearby community of Garrotine, providing water to those who had been left without by the brigands' attacks, and coordinating their defensive efforts. This endeavor came at a significant personal cost to Anglethorn. Having already invested substantially in equipping her farm with the most advanced technology that money could procure, she transformed her farm into a structure resembling a military stronghold, complete with towering walls and multiple defensive perimeters. At the peak of these raids, Anglethorn stumbled into a cantina where she intervened in an escalating dispute between a group of locals and an outsider named Luke Skywalker, who had aroused their suspicion. Impressed by Skywalker's handling of the situation, Anglethorn offered the stranger a position as a guard on her farm, anticipating an imminent brigand assault.

Skywalker accepted the offer, but he had only been on-site for a few short hours when the brigands finally launched their attack on Anglethorn's farm. Anglethorn, who was up late sharing a warm mug of chav with Skywalker, was rendered unconscious by a mysterious force and carried away to the brigands' secret hideout. There, she uncovered the true nature of her adversaries. Led by a ruthless bandit named Gideon Longspar, the brigands conducted their raids using a unique creature known as the Tirrith, an empathic gaseous culture composed of hive-minded sentient particles. Longspar maintained control over the Tirrith by imprisoning a portion of the creature and threatening it with harm. However, the sympathetic Tirrith eventually assisted in freeing Anglethorn and Skywalker from their prison cell and aided them in dismantling Longspar's gang. Anglethorn reluctantly delivered the final blow, destroying a tank containing all of the brigands' collected water, causing a flood that buried the raiders. Despite Anglethorn's concerns about her planet's future after sacrificing so much precious moisture, the Tirrith repaid her faith by seeding Beheboth's clouds, resulting in heavy rainfall for the first time in generations.

Peacekeeper

Anglethorn had an explosive run-in with former Imperial admiral Mils Giel in 8 ABY.

In the years following Longspar's downfall, Anglethorn assumed an even more significant role within Beheboth society. In 7 ABY, she was appointed as Beheboth's inaugural representative to the New Republic Senate. Given that Anglethorn simultaneously served as the elected peacekeeper of Garrotine—subsequently renamed Prosperity—and remained occupied with managing her own farm, she only attended one or two major Senate sessions each year. Anglethorn's responsibilities included investigating murders, and in 8 ABY, she initiated an investigation into the mysterious death of a former employee of hers, Berl Matoone, whose bloated corpse she discovered on her farm, with his blood inexplicably transformed into a completely toxic substance. Fearing that the Tirrith was once again being manipulated by a malevolent force, Anglethorn sought the assistance of her old friend Skywalker, who had since become a Jedi Knight after gaining considerable recognition as a hero of the Rebel Alliance.

As she awaited Skywalker's return, Anglethorn continued her investigation and uncovered a connection between Matoone and two offworlders, Mils Giel and Malka, who had recently established their own farm on Beheboth. Anglethorn learned that Giel and Malka had begun training Tirrith as weapons for an undisclosed purpose and attempted to apprehend the pair. Giel and Malka attempted to flee the planet when they realized they were under suspicion, leading to Anglethorn pursuing them through the streets of Prosperity on her speeder bike. Although Anglethorn fatally shot Malka with a blaster, Giel triggered an explosion that inflicted severe injuries upon her. After the wounded peacekeeper unconsciously reached out through the Force for assistance, Skywalker discovered Anglethorn severely wounded but alive. Anglethorn later awoke after two days under the care of Doctor Hower Jerimott, recounting her story to Skywalker, who had previously encountered Giel during the man's tenure as an Imperial admiral. Although Giel had escaped Beheboth, Anglethorn provided the Jedi with a crucial piece of information: Giel had fled in a stolen ship equipped with an impoundment transmitter that could pinpoint its location, as its previous owner had fallen behind on docking fees.

Personality and traits

Darial Anglethorn, endowed with sharp instincts and unwavering resolve, learned early in life to rely on her gut feelings in challenging situations, unaware that her keen intuition stemmed in part from a mild Force-sensitivity that she did not consciously recognize. As an adult, she developed the ability to unconsciously utilize the Force in certain circumstances, frequently employing her natural affinity for Force empathy and reaching out through the Force for assistance during times of crisis. Anglethorn's position as the largest moisture farmer on Beheboth placed her in a prominent role, which she navigated with compassion and responsibility. The people of her community held her in high regard as a leader, and she, in turn, dedicated herself to maintaining peace and preserving the fundamental sense of decency that she cherished. Anglethorn possessed a strong belief in and trust for her fellow natives of Beheboth, believing that their only hope against the brigands lay in their collective unity. Anglethorn was also a capable fighter, a skilled speeder bike rider, and proficient with a blaster. While unfamiliar with many non-Human species, Anglethorn was multilingual, fluent in Huttese, Ryl, and Ithorese in addition to Basic.
