Darkmeld

In secret, Darkmeld was a Jedi group established and directed by the Jedi Knight, Jaina Solo. The formation of Darkmeld received informal approval from Grand Master Kenth Hamner (acting at the time) in 43 ABY. This occurred amidst rising tensions between the New Jedi Order and the anti-Jedi stance adopted by Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala.

History

Jaina Solo conceived of Darkmeld as a way to covertly and actively work against the Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala's endeavors to seize control over the Jedi Order. Initially, the team consisted of Jedi Knight Tekli, the bounty hunter Tahiri Veila, Imperial Remnant Head of State Jagged Fel, former Alliance Intelligence operative Winter Celchu, and Jedi Master and healer Cilghal. Fel and Solo were hesitant about bringing Mirax Terrik Horn into the fold, as the group's activities needed to be concealed from the Jedi Masters, including Terrik Horn's spouse, Corran Horn; however, they ultimately decided to include her. Darkmeld soon captured the psychotic Jedi Knight Seff Hellin as he attempted to liberate carbonite-encased Jedi Knight Valin Horn—who had the same psychosis—from the Armand Isard Correctional Facility. This action enabled the Jedi Order to investigate the mysterious psychosis in hopes of discovering a treatment, and it also prevented the Galactic Alliance from encasing him in carbonite as they had done with Horn.

Jedi Master Cilghal, a member of the Council, who maintained regular contact with Grand Master Luke Skywalker, discovered Hellin's existence and subsequently became a member of Darkmeld.

Lina Zev and Karn Valanti later acted as stand-ins for Solo and Fel, respectively, when they wished to enjoy a date without media attention. Zev and Valanti drew the attention of journalist Javis Tyrr for a sufficient duration, enabling Solo and Fel to reach an inn located halfway around the planet.
