Darth Tormen, a male Sith Lord of pureblood lineage (of the male variety), played a significant role during the era known as the Cold War. He held a command position among the Sith forces that executed the clandestine Imperial attack targeting Corellia.
At some point during either the Great Galactic War or the subsequent Cold War, the Sith Lord named Fatalissar initiated a Kaggath challenge against Darth Tormen. At the very moment Fatalissar declared Ziost as the designated arena, Tormen, who was standing close enough to touch him, swiftly removed his opponent's head, silencing Fatalissar mid-sentence.
During the Cold War, Darth Tormen extended an invitation to the latest Champion of the Great Hunt to visit his flagship, the Tyrant. This invitation came after the Republic had falsely accused the bounty hunter of various crimes. Tormen expressed irritation when the Hunter, upon arrival, refused to surrender their weapons to the welcoming party and subsequently eliminated them in self-defense. Cutting to the heart of the matter, Tormen offered the Hunter not only a substantial financial reward but also the opportunity to exact revenge on the two individuals responsible for the false accusations: Jedi Battlemaster Jun Seros and Supreme Chancellor Dorian Janarus. However, given that both were located on Coruscant, beyond the Hunter's immediate reach, Tormen proposed a plan to lure them away from the Republic's capital. His strategy revolved around Corellia, a planet whose government had chosen to secede from the Republic, although a significant resistance movement opposed Imperial control. Before proceeding with this plan, Tormen tasked the Hunter with eliminating two key obstacles: Zale Barrows on Belsavis and General Thelonia Redrish on Voss.
Following the Hunter's successful completion of both assignments, Tormen summoned them back to his flagship while they were concluding the Rabaan campaign. However, the Tyrant came under assault by Republic Special Forces. This unexpected attack quickly led to Tormen and most of the crew being isolated in different sections of the ship. The Hunter managed to repel the Republic forces and regain control of the vessel. Subsequently, Tormen executed the surviving members of the bridge crew after discovering that the captain had perished.
Turning his attention back to the Hunter, Tormen detailed his strategy for drawing Seros and Janarus into a trap. He reasoned that if Corellia were to be conquered, the Republic would deploy military forces. However, should the planet secede from the Republic, the Republic's leaders would be compelled to pursue diplomatic solutions. The Hunter's role would be to locate and capture the three leading figures of the resistance, whom Tormen would then coerce into signing an agreement. With Corellia officially under Imperial rule, Janarus would be forced to travel to the planet of the Republic's founding to ratify the treaty. However, Seros would first convince him that he could mobilize the Green Jedi to retaliate. Tormen was certain that Seros would choose direct action on the battlefield rather than relying on intermediaries, as he had previously done with the Hunter.
Once everything was in place and the secession treaty was signed, Tormen dispatched the Hunter to assassinate Seros and retrieve his personal belongings, which included Janarus's travel schedule. Tormen remained at the Corellian legislature to await a strike team of Green Jedi dispatched by Seros to free Tormen's captives and invalidate his fraudulent treaty. Tormen easily defeated and killed them all. He then decrypted Seros' datapad and provided the Hunter with instructions on how to infiltrate Janarus's flagship.
Following the Hunter's successful assassination of Janarus aboard his flagship, Tormen and the Hunter met one last time.

Darth Tormen's singular focus as a Sith was warfare. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he possessed neither interest in, nor patience for, the intricacies of intrigue, politics, ideology, or self-gratification. This is not to suggest he lacked intelligence; rather, he preferred clarity and directness. For Tormen, the mere defeat of his adversaries was insufficient; he sought their complete and utter subjugation.
Some observers mistakenly interpreted Darth Tormen's aversion to deception as a sign of honor or respect for his enemies. However, those who had experienced his wrath knew the truth: he derived satisfaction solely from engaging his enemies head-on and crushing them ruthlessly, regardless of the odds. Despite this, he was willing to allow an asset a certain degree of independence, so long as they served him in the end.
Tormen displayed a notable intolerance for failure, as demonstrated by his use of the Force to choke the surviving bridge crew after his flagship was attacked, as well as his treatment of Corellia's prime minister for failing to secure his planet's compliance.
Darth Tormen wielded a Sith lightsaber with a single blade. He was a formidable practitioner of the dark side, exhibiting proficiency in both telekinesis and Force rage.
In Star Wars: The Old Republic, Burn Gorman provides the voice for Darth Tormen, a role he shares with Darth Angral.
Players are presented with a choice: they can accept Janarus's offer to eliminate Tormen in exchange for immunity (a light side decision), or they can deliver Tormen to Janarus, either dead or alive (representing dark side and neutral choices, respectively).
In Game Update 5.9: Nathema Conspiracy, players who chose to kill Tormen will find that his apprentice, Lord Vindis, joins the Order of Zildrog with the goal of avenging Tormen's death and claiming the title of Darth, only to become a sacrifice to awaken Zildrog.
