A Direct-energy circuit functioned as a computer circuit. This technology was implemented across the galaxy in diverse applications, notably within speeders. A speeder bike's Moll K-20 power generator, CP-0 steering system, Diffuse-Ion accelerator, and repulsorlift all benefited from their implementation.
During 3 ABY, Jora Margal, a Pyke merchant, offered direct-energy circuits for 160 credits in Mirogana, the capital city located on the moon of Toshara. In the same year, Otip Ashtep, a human merchant, sold them at the Bestine junkyard. Simultaneously, an Aqualish named Sopa Nandor was selling them in Mos Eisley on the planet Tatooine. On Akiva, both Aucta Curvak, a Quarren merchant, and Ta Hipan, a Pantoran, were selling the circuits in the city of Myrra. Furthermore, the rogue Quarren merchant Shuma also offered them for sale from her Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport.
Kay Vess, a Scoundrel, utilized direct-energy circuits to enhance her slicing unit in 3 ABY. Additionally, she employed them to upgrade various systems on her S57 Cardinal speeder bike.
The first appearance of direct-energy circuits was in Star Wars Outlaws, the video game from Massive Entertainment released in 2024 and published by Ubisoft. Within the game, these circuits served as components for multiple upgrades for the player's speeder bike, and also as an expert upgrade within "the slicer" upgrade branch.
