The Dlarit estate, located on Thyferra, served as the ancestral residence for the Dlarit family. The family amassed considerable wealth and influence through their business engagements with the Xucphra Corporation. Aerin Dlarit owned this expansive, multi-story mansion, which also functioned as the childhood residence of his daughter, Erisi Dlarit. Erisi Dlarit would later become a pilot for Rogue Squadron and a spy working for Ysanne Isard, the Imperial Intelligence Director. This large mansion was nestled in a secluded spot among Thyferran rainforests, situated on a small rise at the base of towering mountains that were once part of an inactive volcano. The visual splendor of the Dlarit estate was enhanced by waterfalls that flowed down the mountains behind it, creating an impression of paradise. Travel to this isolated mansion was almost exclusively by airspeeder. A sophisticated security system safeguarded the estate, incorporating Tritracker Air Defense battery laser cannons, sensor arrays, and regular patrols by Human security personnel.
During the events of the Bacta War, specifically in 7 ABY, the Dlarit estate became the target of a raid. A group of mercenaries, under the command of Elscol Loro and Sixtus Quin, launched this attack with the intention to assassinate Aerin Dlarit, given his prominent position as a general within the Thyferran Home Defense Corps. The mercenaries successfully gained entry to the estate by exploiting a vulnerability in the sensor arrays located on the mountain side of the mansion. However, influenced by Iella Wessiri, a former New Republic operative assisting Loro's group, they opted for a strategy of public humiliation for Aerin, instead of killing him.

The politically and corporately connected Aerin Dlarit, head of the Dlarit family, was the owner of the Dlarit estate. This mansion was situated in an isolated rainforest region on the planet of Thyferra, surrounded by a thick growth of akonije trees and other plant life. The estate was built on a small hill at the base of a cluster of tall mountains, remnants of a long-dormant volcano. Waterfalls flowed down the mountains, forming a scenic backdrop for the mansion. As a result, mercenaries who infiltrated the Dlarit estate in 7 ABY found the view visually appealing, with one even describing the view from the front of the mansion as a paradise. Constructed from natural stone, the estate's location at the foot of the mountains made it appear to tower over the surrounding rainforest when viewed from afar. Breezes from the mountains and mist from the waterfalls helped to counteract the humid air outside the mansion and also created a constant, natural background noise.
Given the isolated location of the Dlarit estate and the forested terrain surrounding it, nearly all travel to and from the mansion was conducted via airspeeder. A single, narrow track was the only route southward from the estate to a main thoroughfare. Visitors had to navigate several gates along this forty-five kilometer path, which wound through the forests and around natural rock formations. The rainforest surrounding the mansion opened into a large clearing in front of the Dlarit estate. An electronically locked, enclosed solarium served as the entrance to the building, leading to a doorway into the lower floor of the main estate house. From there, a stairway led to the main floor, where a large hallway provided access to the mansion's various rooms. Among these rooms was the private office of Aerin Dlarit, which contained a high-backed chair and a desk equipped with a built-in holoprojector plate. This plate displayed a slowly rotating, meter-tall hologram of a statue of Aerin Dlarit atop a pedestal, surrounded by crowds of well-wishers applauding at the base.
The dense rainforest, towering mountains, and cascading waterfalls around the Dlarit estate already provided a natural barrier for anyone attempting to reach the mansion. Nevertheless, the building was further fortified by a range of sophisticated security measures. The estate was protected by a network of well-concealed Tritracker Air Defense batteries and ground-based anti-aircraft artillery laser cannons designed by CoMar Combat Systems. Additionally, the numerous gates and natural rock formations along the single pathway served as potential ambush points in the event of an invasion.
Furthermore, various sensor arrays were strategically positioned around the estate to monitor any attempts to approach through the rainforest. However, the arrays were deliberately muted on the mountain side of the estate to prevent the constant triggering of alarms by the sounds of water movement from the waterfalls. This proved to be a significant security flaw that was exploited by an Ashern strike team during a raid on the Dlarit estate in 7 ABY. In addition to the elaborate electronic security system, patrols of Human guards regularly patrolled both inside and outside the mansion. The external patrols primarily focused their efforts on the side of the estate facing the mountains and waterfalls.

Aerin Dlarit, a multi-millionaire deeply involved with the Xucphra Corporation, one of the two major bacta production and distribution companies on Thyferra, owned the Dlarit estate. It also served as the childhood home of Erisi Dlarit, Aerin Dlarit's daughter, who later became a highly-placed spy for Ysanne Isard, the chief of Imperial Intelligence. In this role, Erisi Dlarit was placed as a pilot within the New Republic's elite Rogue Squadron, where she provided intelligence directly to Isard. Following the recapture of Coruscant by the New Republic, Erisi Dlarit realized that her identity was about to be exposed and fled from Rogue Squadron. Subsequently, she commanded the fighter wing of Isard's newly established Thyferran Home Defense Corps. After a planet-wide coup, supported by Isard and the Xucphra Corporation in 7 ABY, that triggered the Bacta War, Aerin Dlarit was promoted to general within the defense organization. During this period, he continued to reside at the Dlarit estate, which also housed a large staff of servants and maintenance workers who tended to the home.
Despite Aerin Dlarit's largely symbolic role within the Thyferran Home Defense Corps, his high profile made him a prime target for assassination by an anti-Imperial mercenary group led by Elscol Loro and Sixtus Quin. They agreed to assist local freedom fighters in their attempt to regain control of Thyferra from Isard. The mercenaries planned to infiltrate the Dlarit estate and kill Aerin Dlarit, believing that carrying out the assassination within his own home would amplify the impact of their actions.
Loro's group received assistance from the Ashern, a group of Vratix who were fighting against Human control of the bacta cartel. The Vratix were the native species of Thyferra, who had produced bacta for thousands of years before their business endeavors were undermined by the monopolies of Xucphra and their rival company, the Zaltin Corporation. To aid Loro, the Ashern sliced into planetary computers and conducted surveillance on the mansion using satellites owned by Zaltin. Through this surveillance, Loro's team discovered that the sensor devices on the mountain side of the estate were muted, making it a vulnerable point of entry for their attack. During the raid, the mercenaries successfully infiltrated the mansion, killing two security guards and stunning Dlarit in his office. At that point, Iella Wessiri, a former New Republic agent working with Loro, proposed an alternative plan. Instead of killing Dlarit, they stripped him naked and created a hologram of the humiliation, which served the propaganda purpose of undermining the morale of both the Xucphra Corporation and the Thyferran Home Defense Corps.
Michael A. Stackpole created the Dlarit estate for his 1997 novel, X-Wing: The Bacta War, which is the fourth book in the X-Wing series of novels.
