Duralium was a material of blue hue, suitable for strengthening steel or fabricating lightsabers.
Duralium, a blue substance, could be alloyed with steel to provide reinforcement. Alternatively, it found use in the construction of lightsaber handles.
During the era of the High Republic, Valkeri Enterprises utilized duralium in the frames of their Veil speeders, which were manufactured for the Jedi Order.
In 14 BBY, the Padawan Jedi named Cal Kestis came across a quantity of duralium within Origin Lake located on the planet of Kashyyyk. He retained this material to modify his lightsaber, previously belonging to his former master, which he had received from his Jedi Master Jaro Tapal not long before Jaro Tapal's death during the events of Order 66 in 19 BBY.
Four months prior to the Liberation of Erso in 0 BBY, Jyn Erso, the daughter of Imperial scientist Galen Erso, was imprisoned at the Wobani Labor Camp situated on the planet Wobani. While working within the confines of the labor camp, Jyn picked up a steel panel reinforced with duralium. Upon dropping it, the panel fractured. An RA-7 protocol droid, observing the panel's brittleness, informed the nearby engineer that 400 panels from the same flawed production run existed. Consequently, that section of the facility was closed, and all panels from the defective batch were removed and remade.
Within the established Star Wars canon, duralium made its initial appearance in the 2017 novel titled Rebel Rising, authored by Beth Revis. Its visual representation was first seen in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment. Within the game's mechanics, it is one of twenty-four collectable materials that players can use to personalize the look of Cal Kestis' lightsaber. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, duralium was initially referenced in the 2005 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, specifically within the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith section penned by Kerrie Dougherty. Its first appearance occurred in the 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was developed by BioWare Austin.
