E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannon

The E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannon, also known by the designations Emplacement Weapon, Heavy Blaster, or simply E-Web, represented the most potent heavy repeating blaster cannon available to the Imperial military. It was a common weapon utilized by Imperial stormtroopers and the clones of the preceding Galactic Republic.

Description

The main E-Web cannon.

To manage the significant recoil from its high-powered blasts, the E-Web was equipped with stable mounting systems. Typically, it needed a crew of two to operate it. However, its deployment time negatively impacted its overall utility. As a result, Imperial units sometimes pre-charged its Class-4T3 power generator to speed up the setup process, although this required careful power regulation to avoid system failure. The E-Web also incorporated a scope, enhancing its precision at extended ranges.

A previous iteration of the E-Web, deployed near the conclusion of the Clone Wars, appeared to utilize a different tripod configuration, featuring two front legs and one rear leg, as opposed to the more common one front and two rear arrangement.

History

The Galactic Republic began using the E-Web towards the end of the Clone Wars, and it continued to be used after the Republic became the Galactic Empire. Earlier in the Clone Wars, Republic forces had employed another type of heavy blaster cannon, which was used from at least the Battle of Christophsis through, at the very least, the Battle of Ringo Vinda. The E-Web was deployed by the time the Outer Rim Sieges were nearing their end. During the Conquest of Kaller, a clone trooper used an E-Web in one of the frontline trenches, where Jedi Master Depa Billaba and Clone Captain Grey sought protection.

Durge picks up and uses an E-Web

During the Imperial forces invasion of Echo Base on Hoth, an E-Web heavy repeating blaster cannon was deployed in an effort to stop the Millennium Falcon from escaping. During a firefight on the moon Quantxi, the notorious bounty hunter Durge grabbed an E-Web and used it as his personal weapon. Frustrated by the battle's duration, Durge sought to expedite the elimination of his adversaries.

Following the Battle of Endor, E-Webs were used against New Republic shock troopers who were being dropped from ships above during the pursuit of Imperial warlords. The E-Web's proved effective in targeting these descending shock troopers, who were often instantly vaporized before reaching the ground, in full view of their comrades. A more advanced E-Web model, identified as the E-HOB heavy repeating laser cannon, was developed by 9 ABY and used by Moff Gideon's remnant during a skirmish on Nevarro. Gideon invoked Carasynthia Dune's past experiences with the E-Web to instill fear in his opponents, and he further compared the cannon to weapons used in the Night of a Thousand Tears to intimidate the Mandalorian Din Djarin. However, once the battle started, Djarin seized the cannon and turned it against Gideon's soldiers.
