Commodore Freylon served the Galactic Empire as a commodore within its navy. His principal duty was as the commanding officer aboard the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer named Steadfast. Tragically, between the years of 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Freylon met his death during the Battle of Ponolapo. The Steadfast was caught in an ambush executed by a relatively small fleet belonging to the Rebel Alliance. Following this engagement, Scaanos, also a commodore, succeeded Freylon in commanding the Steadfast. This decision greatly angered Captain Enric Pryde, who felt he was the more deserving candidate for the position.

As a commodore in service to the Galactic Empire's navy, Freylon held the position of commanding officer on the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer known as the Steadfast. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, while the Steadfast was providing escort for an Imperial convoy, it was ambushed by a small fleet of the Rebel Alliance at the Battle of Ponolapo. Due to the Empire's recent conflict with the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn, the Steadfast lacked its usual support of several Gozanti or Arquitens light cruisers. This deficiency enabled the rebels to destroy a significant portion of the convoy, inflict damage upon the Steadfast, and ultimately lead to Freylon's death.
Following the demise of Freylon, Commodore Scaanos was appointed as his replacement, assuming the role of commanding officer of the Steadfast. An obituary was subsequently created in his honor and archived within the "Imperial Navy" section of the Imperial Archives. Captain Enric Pryde, the Steadfast's longest-serving crewmember, was deeply resentful that Scaanos, rather than himself, had been chosen for the command. The day following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Pryde, while dwelling on his animosity towards Scaanos, found himself recalling the circumstances of Freylon's death. Later, in 35 ABY, Beaumont Kin, a historian, made reference to both Freylon's obituary and a file pertaining to the Battle of Ponolapo, which was stored within the "Military Operations" section of the Rebel Alliance Archives, when he mentioned Freylon in his book titled The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.
Freylon's command was the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Steadfast.
The initial, though indirect, mention of Freylon occurred in the short story "The Steadfast Soldier," penned by Adam Christopher and featured in the 2023 anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. His identity was later confirmed in the 2024 reference work Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, authored by Dr. Chris Kempshall.
