Ganem Kahi

Ganem Kahi was a male human who skillfully piloted TIE fighters. He held the rank of Flight Officer within the Galactic Empire, specifically in Squadron Five of the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. His family boasted a lineage of five generations of pilots serving the preceding Galactic Republic.

Biography

Before his enrollment at the academy, Kahi journeyed to Coruscant to visit his grandmother. She expressed her happiness with his choice to join the military and voiced her hope that he would find love and marry. During a battle, Kahi was stationed aboard the Star Destroyer Pursuer. Following Squadron Five's victory over the Rebels, he greeted his girlfriend, Zin Graw, with a kiss in the hangar of the Star Destroyer. Subsequently, he, along with the rest of the squadron, reported to Shakara Nuress to receive their subsequent mission.

Mission to recover the Celerity

Kahi journeyed to the Kudo system aboard the Quasar Fire-class cruiser-carrier Summit to provide protection for a mission aimed at recovering the Star Destroyer Celerity. During the journey, Kahi shared a meal with his fellow pilots in the mess hall. He began to suggest that the Rebels might have valid concerns, but Jeela Brebtin quickly silenced him, warning that his words could be interpreted as treasonous. Following the meal, he walked with Graw, who cautioned him to be careful to avoid any perception of Rebel sympathies. He reassured her of his loyalty to the Empire.

Action in the Kudo System

Upon the Summit's arrival at Kudo, Kahi deployed in his TIE/IN interceptor. As he faced attacks from numerous TIE fighters originating from the Celerity, he questioned the identity of the pilots and whether the entire complex had been compromised. After the destruction of the Summitt, Kahi was taken aback when Teso Broosh instructed the squadron to surrender and land on Kudo. Once on the planet, the squadron was approached by stormtroopers, whom Kahi initially presumed to be rebels. However, after an encounter with Gratloe, he discovered that Gratloe's faction was seceding to further their own interests, rather than rebelling against the Empire. He felt disgust at the corruption. After being isolated to discuss the offer to join Gratloe, Kahi was incredulous that Broosh was even considering it. When Broosh revealed he was merely buying time to develop a plan, Kahi joined him in escaping captivity.

After making their way to their fighters, Broosh revealed that he had a backdoor coded into his fighter to prevent being locked out. Kahi thought that was a paranoid decision. After being let go by loyalist stormtroopers, Kahi and the rest of Squadron Five flew into space in an attempt to retake the Celerity. Before they could dock, they were attacking by an incoming armada of Rebel ships. Despite being assisted by TIE fighters piloted by loyalists, Kahi and the rest of Squadron Five were overwhelmed by superior numbers. He was hit by laser fire but managed to stay in formation. Graw pulled up alongside him and assured him that she had him covered. He professed his love for her and continued on course to the Star Destroyer. Before they could make it to safety, Kahi witnessed the destruction of Graw's fighter as she was shot down by a Rebel X-wing starfighter. Once on board the Celerity, Brebtin told him that his girlfriend would be happy that they accomplished the mission. Kahi was saddened at the loss and walked away to be alone with his thoughts.

Chasing a Rebel ship

Following his return to the Pursuer, Kahi attended a meeting with Nuress and the remaining members of Squadron Five. He learned that Graw had been in communication with the Rebels and was planning to defect. He refused to accept this, suggesting the presence of a spy attempting to spread misinformation. Broosh speculated that Graw was gathering evidence to hand over to the Imperial Security Bureau. After the meeting, Kahi thanked Broosh for defending Graw, but Broosh angrily explained he was covering himself. He told Kahi having a traitor under his command would reflect badly on him. Kahi was also told that his judgement might be questionable, but due to the needs of the upcoming mission, he would not be kicked out of the squadron. Kahi was present when Broosh greeted the two cadets that were assigned to Squardron Five to replace lost personnel. Afterwords, he went to the shooting range with Brebtin. Kahi attended a meeting with the rest of Squadron Five where Broosh laid out his plans to attack the Rebel ship that was gathering Imperial defectors. Kahi asked if they were going to take prisoners, but Broosh hoped that the battle would end the Rebellion.
