Kudo

Kudo, a planet of desert landscapes, existed within the Kudo system. This system resided in the Corvair sector, which itself was part of the Inner Rim Territories. At least three moons orbited Kudo. One of these moons, known as Kudo III, served as the home world for the Kudon species. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire conducted a mining operation on Kudo. Admiral Gratloe later seized this operation upon his defection, establishing his own splinter faction.

Description

Kudo, characterized as a terrestrial desert planet, could be found in the Inner Rim Territories. Its atmosphere was breathable for humans. It was situated within the Kudo system inside the Corvair sector of the galaxy. At a minimum, three moons circled Kudo in orbit. One of these was Kudo III, the inhabited world of the sentient Kudon species.

History

During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], the Confederacy of Independent Systems constructed a battle droid foundry on Kudo's third moon. The Kudon were forced into slavery to work in this facility. After Republic Intelligence received intelligence, purportedly spread by the Separatists themselves, regarding the foundry, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker entered the foundry and liberated the enslaved Kudon.

In the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire maintained a mining facility on Kudo. Following the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, Admiral Gratloe, weary of the deaths resulting from the Galactic Civil War, deserted the Empire to create his own faction. He seized control of the mining facility on Kudo, as well as the Star Destroyer known as the Celerity. When the Empire received a communication from the Celerity, reporting hyperdrive malfunctions that prevented it from following orders, Colonel Shakara Nuress of the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing dispatched one of the fighter wing's squadrons to escort a maintenance team aboard the cruiser-carrier Summit.

Upon their arrival above Kudo, the Summit and its accompanying TIE fighter pilots were attacked by the Celerity and its deployed TIE fighter squadron. As the Summit attempted an escape into hyperspace, it was destroyed by the Celerity, which prompted Second Lieutenant Commander Teso Broosh to surrender on behalf of his squadron. The surviving pilots landed on Kudo, where they were taken prisoner by Gratloe's forces. Gratloe offered the pilots positions within his faction, but they refused, instead inciting Gratloe's forces to rebel against his defection. The crew aboard the Celerity fought to regain control, but Gratloe had already promised to sell the Star Destroyer to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, who then arrived in the system and attacked the pilots of the 204th. Overwhelmed by rebel starfighters, the surviving pilots were compelled to abandon the mining facility and retreat to the Celerity, escaping the Kudo system.

Locations

A mining facility, operated by the Galactic Empire, was situated on the desert surface of Kudo. This facility briefly served as a base for the defected Imperial admiral Gratloe, although some of his forces chose to return to the Empire.
