Gherant

Gherant was a human male officer serving the Galactic Empire within its naval forces. He was stationed on the bridge of the Super Star Destroyer known as the Executor.

Biography

During the Galactic Civil War, Gherant functioned as an officer in the Imperial Navy. His ambition was recognized, and he was subsequently promoted to a position on the bridge of the Super Star Destroyer Executor as a reward.

In 4 ABY, during the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance Navy found itself ensnared by Imperial Star Destroyers and the second Death Star. At this time, Gherant expressed concern regarding Fleet Admiral Firmus Piett's order to maintain their position. This questioning occurred upon receiving information that the Imperial Navy was in an attack posture, while being unaware of Emperor Palpatine's scheme to utilize the Death Star's superlaser in order to obliterate the Rebel fleet. Piett clarified that Palpatine had a special plan in motion and that their only task was to prevent the Rebels from escaping.

An A-wing crashing into the bridge of the Executor as Gherant and Piett try to take cover.

As Admiral Gial Ackbar of the Rebel forces commanded a concentrated barrage on the Executor, two A-wings successfully breached one of the Deflector shield generator domes, leading to the bridge's deflector shields being disabled. Piett issued an order to intensify forward firepower, and Gherant identified a damaged A-wing piloted by Arvel Crynyd, spiraling uncontrollably. Crynyd, doing his best to control his starfighter, directed it straight toward the Executor's bridge. As the A-wing hurtled towards the bridge, Piett repeated his command to increase forward firepower. Gherant, responding with "too late!", dove into a data pit on the bridge, with Piett following suit as the A-wing penetrated the Viewports. The resulting explosion from the A-wing's impact destroyed the bridge, leading to the deaths of the Rebel pilot, Gherant, Piett, and the rest of the bridge crew.

Personality and traits

Gherant was described as a tall individual, characterized by brown hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. His ambition was a defining trait, contributing to his promotion to the Executor. He also exhibited a degree of nervousness, evident both when he questioned Piett's orders to hold their position and when he anxiously scanned for incoming starfighters after the bridge's deflector shields failed during the battle.

Equipment

During the Battle of Endor, Gherant was seen wearing the standard Imperial officer's uniform along with a Rank insignia plaque displaying three red and three blue squares.

Behind the scenes

Gherant made an appearance in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, portrayed by Pip Miller, although his dialogue was dubbed by an American voice actor.
