The Gilded Star functioned as a treasury ship for the Eternal Empire of Zakuul, where it secured the valuable items looted during the Empire's galactic conquest following the Eternal Empire's conquest. A complete battalion of Knights of Zakuul and Skytroopers provided security for the vessel, which also boasted a vault impervious to complete destruction of the rest of the ship. The ship remained hidden within the depths of the atmosphere of the gas giant Vandin for the majority of the time, surfacing only once per year. Senya Tirall served under Emperor Valkorion and oversaw the Gilded Star at one point.
In 3630 BBY, a scheme to execute a heist of the Gilded Star was hatched by con artist Gault Rennow and his associate Vette. To accomplish this, they enlisted Dretcher, an old acquaintance of Gault's, along with a force from the Anti-Zakuul Alliance. This force included the Alliance Commander, Lana Beniko, Theron Shan, Senya Tirall, and SCORPIO. Dretcher's contribution involved creating a forged identity of High Justice Vaylin for her mother, Senya, who could provide a genetic match and possessed the necessary knowledge of Vaylin's personality. Dretcher's holographic disguise was effective, allowing Senya to board the ship as Vaylin, with SCORPIO acting as her droid attache. SCORPIO, from the bridge, created a path to the vault for Gault and the Alliance Commander, while Vette worked to disable the vault's security systems. Once inside, Gault placed a missile warhead within the vault, which, upon exploding, turned the vault's entire collection of precious metals into vapor, while leaving the surrounding areas unaffected. The precious metals were then transferred into a tanker piloted by Lana Beniko and Theron Shan, while the remaining members of the team made their escape. Simultaneously, Vaylin herself arrived on the ship, but the team was able to evade her by moving to the ship's exterior.
