Glenna Kip, hailing from the Shani people, was a female scientist and professor whose career spanned several centuries. During the High Republic Era, she conducted her research in a laboratory situated on the planet Haileap. Later, during the Imperial Era, she found herself on Minfar, working in a Galactic Empire laboratory where she investigated methods for suppressing rebellious populations. Despite her distaste for this work, Kip hoped her presence within the Empire would prevent the creation of new weaponry. Kip and her fellow researchers developed the Echo Horn, a device with the power to control the Zixon, the native species of Minfar. Following the Empire's collapse, Kip liberated the Zixon and subsequently collaborated with General Leia Organa of the Resistance. The First Order forcibly enlisted Kip as a scientist, leading her to work alongside Commander Branwayne Spiftz, who was determined to locate the Echo Horn. Kip, however, secretly aimed to destroy the device before the First Order could acquire it. When Resistance members arrived to aid the Zixon, Kip joined their cause, successfully preventing the First Order from seizing the weapon and expelling them from the planet.
Glenna Kip, a Shani female, gained recognition as a scientist and professor during the High Republic Era. She operated from a provisional lab located in Port Haileap on Haileap, within the Dalnan sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Galactic Republic senator Ghirra Starros, recognizing shared interests in the Force and philosophical questions, chose Kip to mentor her aspiring inventor and scientist daughter, Avon. However, upon Avon's arrival in Port Haileap, she discovered Kip had departed in search of an ancient artifact, leaving Avon under the care of Jedi Douglas Sunvale and Vernestra Rwoh.
More than two centuries later, during the Imperial Era, Kip found herself employed by the Galactic Empire, the successor to the Republic. She worked in a laboratory on Minfar dedicated to researching methods of suppressing rebellious populations. While she found the work distasteful, she hoped that by working from within the system, she could prevent the Empire from developing new weapons. This research led to the creation of the Echo Horn, a device with the ability to control the Zixon, the native sentient species of Minfar. After the fall of the Empire, Kip played a role in liberating the Zixon.
Subsequently, during the Cold War, Kip collaborated with General Leia Organa of the Resistance. Later, she was forcibly recruited by the First Order to work as a scientist, leading her to collaborate with Commander Branwayne Spiftz. While the commander was determined to locate the Echo Horn, Kip secretly planned to destroy it before the First Order could gain control of it. When members of the Resistance arrived on Minfar to find the horn, she joined forces with them, successfully preventing the First Order from acquiring the weapon and driving them off the planet.
Glenna Kip possessed green skin and blue eyes. Distinctive silver lines marked her skin. Due to her species' long lifespan, Kip was well over two centuries old by the time of the First Order-Resistance War. She was a passionate scientist with a deep curiosity about the nature of the Force. Kip strongly opposed the creation of weapons or the use of her work for immoral purposes, and when forced to participate in such activities, she would attempt to sabotage or impede them covertly.
Glenna Kip's first appearance was in the 2019 junior novel titled Spark of the Resistance, authored by Justina Ireland.
