The Grand Salon, alternatively known as the Sundari throne room, was a sprawling space located inside the Sundari Royal Palace on Sundari, which itself is located on Mandalore. Its purpose was multifaceted, serving principally as the throne room for Duchess Satine Kryze, and secondarily as a chamber for council meetings.
This expansive chamber, the Grand Salon, also referenced as the Sundari throne room, functioned as the epicenter of Mandalorian authority during the twilight days of the Republic Era. Situated in the capital city of Sundari on the planet Mandalore, the room was utilized by Duchess Satine Kryze, the reigning leader of the pacifistic New Mandalorians. When the Mandalorian Government Council convened, its members occupied seats positioned in front of the throne. Later, the Death Watch Mandalorians, a group of terrorist and warrior-based individuals, claimed control of Mandalore, with their leader Pre Vizsla subsequently taking possession of the Grand Salon. After the renegade Sith Lord Maul usurped leadership of Death Watch from Vizsla, he continued to operate from the Grand Salon, ruling Mandalore from the throne room and presiding over the Shadow Collective criminal syndicate.

During the Clone Wars, because of Mandalore's neutral stance, the Grand Salon was the location of a failed attempt to broker peace between the heads of the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems with the goal of ceasing the conflict. As the center of Mandalorian authority, the throne room became the stage for numerous duels and conflicts as diverse factions vied for dominance over Mandalore following Death Watch's seizure of power in 19 BBY. Initially, it was the setting for a duel between Maul and Pre Viszla, culminating in Maul's acquisition of control over the planet. Subsequently, Satine met her demise there at the hands of Maul, in the presence of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Soon after Satine's passing, Darth Sidious arrived on Mandalore, where he engaged Maul and Savage Opress in combat, ultimately killing Opress and subduing and capturing his former apprentice.
In 19 BBY, following his liberation from captivity by Mandalorian super commandos, Maul made his return to Mandalore; nevertheless, he remained hidden in the Undercity, leaving his puppet ruler, Prime Minister Almec, in charge within the throne room. During the Siege of Mandalore, the Nite Owls infiltrated the throne room, capturing Almec within its walls. Maul and Ahsoka Tano engaged in a duel inside the throne room, before their battle extended into the city dome's rafters.
