A light freighter of the YV-666 variety manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, the Hound's Tooth was modified from its original configuration. The ship featured an elongated, rectangular hull, and atop this hull sat the command bridge, which afforded the pilot a superior view through the segmented viewport. Beneath the bridge was the location of the deflector shield generator. Access to the interior was granted by a forward ramp, as well as a side ramp located near the aft maneuvering fins. A rather macabre mascot, painted on the side of the forward hull, depicted a female Trandoshan standing between the ship's name written in Aurebesh, with a battle-axe strapped to her back, a blaster in one hand, and the severed head of a Wookiee in the other.
Internally, the vessel's lower levels housed the engines, power core, and various weapon systems. Armaments included a quad laser cannon turret, an ion cannon, and a concussion missile launcher. The Hound's Tooth was capable of achieving speeds of up to 1,190 kilometers per hour and possessed a class 1.5 hyperdrive. Bossk utilized this seemingly ordinary freighter to store an extensive collection of weaponry, interrogation devices, and unsettling trophies acquired throughout his career as a bounty hunter. He converted the YV-666's cargo bays into highly secure prison cells, and installed an advanced security system to eliminate any unauthorized intruders. One of the cargo holds, positioned on the ship's upper deck, was repurposed as a launch bay for his personal Z-95-AF4 Headhunter, known as the Nashtah Pup.

In 20 BBY, individuals belonging to Krayt's Claw, including Boba Fett, Dengar, C-21 Highsinger, Latts Razzi, and Asajj Ventress, utilized Bossk's ship to journey to the Quarzite space station orbiting the planet Quarzite for the purpose of accepting employment.
During the Age of the Empire, Bossk piloted the Hound's Tooth to the Outer Rim planet of Lothal to collect a bounty placed on the Dug criminal known as Gronson Takkaro. The ship spent a significant portion of this period docked at the spaceport within Lothal's Capital City. On another occasion, an explosion damaged the ship, compelling Bossk to abandon the freighter and escape in his personal Z-95-AF4 Headhunter, the Nashtah Pup.
