The Imperial Information Office (IIO) functioned as a governmental agency of the Imperial regime, operating as a component within Imperial Intelligence. Tseebo, a Rodian, was employed by this Information Office before he managed to flee with assistance from the Spectres rebel group. Subsequently, an IIO team, under the leadership of Controller LT-319, attempted to reveal the whereabouts of Chopper Base by infiltrating the systems of the astromech droid known as Chopper.

The Information Office of the Empire was a division of Imperial Intelligence, one of the two primary intelligence services of the Galactic Empire, alongside the Imperial Security Bureau. To enhance their operational effectiveness, certain IIO personnel utilized AJ^6 cyborg constructs, brain implants that enabled them to interface with computers and rapidly acquire data. Being a part of Imperial Intelligence, IIO agents had access to resources such as the IGV-55 surveillance vessel, which they employed to monitor communications and analyze data streams for indications of insurgent activity and dissent.

During the Imperial Era, Tseebo, a Rodian, was an employee of the Imperial Information Office stationed on the planet Lothal. He was equipped with an AJ^6 cybernetic implant, which he subsequently exploited to download classified Imperial information onto the device. This information encompassed details about the new TIEs and raptors, schedules for troop deployments, tactics, strategies, and a comprehensive five year plan for Lothal and all other worlds within the Outer Rim Territories. This massive influx of data led Tseebo to exhibit unpredictable behavior. On Empire Day in 4 BBY, Tseebo deserted the Empire, escaping off-world with the aid of the Spectres, who then concealed him.
At a later time, an IIO team commanded by Controller LT-319 hacked into Chopper, the C1-series astromech droid belonging to the Spectres, with the objective of pinpointing the location of the Phoenix Cell's base. Under LT-319's direction, Chopper was compelled to attempt to kill his rebel allies and to download the navigational computer of the VCX-100 light freighter Ghost. However, the Spectres, along with Wedge Antilles, were successful in regaining control of both the ship and Chopper. After Hera Syndulla, Chopper's owner, reprogrammed him, she transmitted the data feed back to LT-319's IGV-55 surveillance vessel, resulting in a data surge that overwhelmed the ship's memory core and caused the deaths of the Imperial analysts when their vessel exploded.
The initial appearance of the Imperial Information Office occurred in the Star Wars Rebels episode titled "Empire Day," which was initially broadcast on November 10, 2014.
