Interdictor (Interdictor-class)

The Interdictor, a heavy cruiser of the experimental Interdictor-class, possessed the unique ability to extract starships from the realm of hyperspace using its quartet of gravity well projectors. This Imperial vessel, the Interdictor, was placed under the command of Admiral Brom Titus of the Imperial Navy, who put the cruiser's capabilities to the test against a rebel patrol operating within the Del Zennis system. Subsequently, the Imperial Interdictor successfully captured the Liberator, a rebel starship that served as the flagship for Commander Jun Sato, the leader of the Phoenix Cell. Among the captured rebels was Ezra Bridger, a young Jedi apprentice known for being a persistent adversary of the Galactic Empire. Following its destruction, a new iteration of the Interdictor ship was created, known as the Interdictor-class Star Destroyer.

Desctiption

Measuring 1,129 meters in length, the Interdictor was equipped with both a hangar bay and sublight engines. Furthermore, it was armed with four gravity well projectors. These projectors enabled the Interdictor vessels to generate an interdiction field, essentially an artificial gravity well capable of forcing other ships out of hyperspace and preventing their entry.

History

At one point time during its operational history, it operated alongside two other heavy cruisers of the Interdictor-class above a green planet, pulling a CR90 corvette out of hyperspace.

During the Imperial Era, the Imperial Interdictor was assigned to Admiral Brom Titus of the Imperial Navy, who proceeded to evaluate the cruiser's performance against a rebel squadron in the Del Zennis system. Not long after, the Imperial Interdictor successfully seized the rebel vessel Liberator, which served as the flagship of Commander Jun Sato, the head of the Phoenix Cell. Included among the captured rebels was Ezra Bridger, a youthful Jedi apprentice known as a constant thorn in the side of the Galactic Empire. The elated Admiral Titus then informed Agent Kallus of the Imperial Security Bureau about his recent capture. Despite Kallus's warnings regarding the necessity of securing Ezra, Titus disregarded Kallus's assertions that a young person could pose a threat to the Imperial Navy. Later, several rebels – the Jedi Kanan Jarrus, Captain Rex, and the astromech droid Chopper – infiltrated the Imperial Interdictor. They then found Ezra, who had already managed to free himself, and swiftly liberated Commander Sato and his crew. In the meantime, Chopper and Ezra sabotaged the Interdictor's gravity well projectors. Following a fight onboard the Interdictor, the rebels successfully escaped on the Liberator.

The Interdictor is destroyed with its escort vessels.

Admiral Titus gave the order for his crew to activate the gravity well projectors, but instead, they pulled in not only the Liberator but also the Interdictor's accompanying Arquitens-class command cruisers. The light cruisers collided with the Imperial Interdictor, one impacting the ventral side and the other scraping the dorsal surface before reaching the bridge, triggering an explosion from the gravity wells that annihilated the warship and its escorts. Amidst the explosion, the Phoenix rebels made their escape into hyperspace aboard the Liberator. Admiral Titus managed to survive the Imperial Interdictor's destruction by fleeing in an escape pod and lived to report the catastrophe to Agent Kallus.
