During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems initiated a military action against the planet Florrum, specifically targeting the headquarters of the Ohnaka Gang in what became known as the invasion of Florrum.
In the first year of the Clone Wars conflict, Count Dooku, the Confederate Head of State and Sith Lord, found himself captured by a gang of pirates under the leadership of pirate king Hondo Ohnaka. Following the capture of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker aboard Dooku's ship orbiting the planet Vanqor, and his subsequent rescued by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, the two Jedi pursued the Sith Lord to the planet's surface. They entered a nearby cave in search of Dooku. However, Dooku managed to escape, encountering Hondo Ohnaka, who was in the process of looting the wreckage of a downed Sheathipede-class shuttle and his solar sailer. Ohnaka offered Dooku transportation off Vanqor, mentioning that Florrum, Hondo's base of operations, was the closest planet. Dooku accepted, promising to compensate the pirate for his services. During their journey to Florrum, Ohnaka surreptitiously pickpocketed the Sith Lord, stealing his and Skywalker's lightsaber. Upon arrival on Florrum, the pirate initially mistook Dooku for a Jedi, but Dooku corrected him, identifying himself as a Sith Lord. Ohnaka then reminded Dooku that he was still at a disadvantage in terms of numbers.
Despite these events, the Count eventually escaped from Ohnaka's gang with assistance from his adversaries, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with Naboo Representative Jar Jar Binks. Kenobi cautioned Ohnaka that while they held no animosity towards him or his gang, Dooku likely harbored resentment and was aware of Ohnaka's location, implying a future Separatist assault was probable.
Indeed, an assault occurred. An army of droids, commanded by General Grievous, launched an attack on the planet, invading Hondo's base as retribution for his past actions.
