Kav Bayons, a Chagrian male, served as a Jedi Knight within the ranks of the Galactic Republic during the tumultuous era of the Clone Wars. He joined fellow Jedi Akar-Deshu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker on a critical mission: the capture of Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, who had betrayed the Jedi Order by secretly collaborating with Separatist leader Count Dooku. Bayons met his end during the second battle of Christophsis, when Vos and Dooku orchestrated their escape on the Venator-class Star Destroyer known as the Vigilance. His death occurred when Vos used the Force to shove Deshu into him, resulting in Deshu's stinger injecting a deadly poison into Bayons' bloodstream.
During the waning years of the Galactic Republic, Kav Bayons held the rank of Jedi Knight. He proved his worth in combat throughout the Clone Wars. In the Clone Wars' second year, Bayons accompanied Mahran Jedi Knight Akar-Deshu, known as "Desh," on a mission to bring in Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, who was exposed as a traitor for his alliance with Count Dooku. Bayons, along with Desh and Clone Commander Cody, were on the bridge of the Venator-class Star Destroyer Vigilance](/article/vigilance_(venator-class)) when their Jedi allies Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker informed them of the capture of both Vos and Dooku.
The news of Vos's treachery and the necessity of potentially executing their former comrade deeply shocked Desh and his colleagues. Nevertheless, they followed Kenobi's instructions to gather reinforcements and meet them in the Vigilance's hangar bay. When Kenobi and Skywalker arrived with their prisoners, Bayons, Desh, Commander Cody, and his troops were assigned the task of escorting them to the ship's brig. Bayons was specifically responsible for leading Dooku into custody. When Dooku began to speak about Vos's betrayal, Bayons commanded him to remain silent.
En route, Vos stopped, feigning a desire to explain to Desh his reasons for siding with Dooku. While his Jedi and clone captors were distracted, Vos employed the Force to levitate Desh's lightsaber, freeing Dooku from his restraints. Dooku then mirrored Vos's actions by seizing Bayons' lightsaber and killing a clone trooper. After throwing Cody aside and liberating Vos, Dooku unleashed Force lightning upon Bayons and several clones. Although injured by the Force lightning, Bayons joined Desh in the pursuit to recapture the two Sith fugitives.
In an attempt to hinder Bayons and Desh, Dooku used a Force choke on two clone troopers and hurled their bodies at the pursuing Jedi. Desh then tried to kill Vos by extending the stinger located in his right wrist, a unique anatomical trait of the Mahran species. As Desh attempted to stab Vos, the Sith threw him into Bayons, exposing him to Desh's venom. The stinger grazed Bayons' face, causing immediate swelling and widening of his eyes. In his dying moments, Bayons collapsed against a wall. After killing Desh, Vos and Dooku escaped the Vigilance with the assistance of Vos's lover, Asajj Ventress, who was unaware of his collaboration with Dooku.
Following the second battle of Christophsis, a remorseful Vos confessed to the murders of Bayons, Desh, and the clone troopers, among other offenses, including the sabotage of the Republic's war efforts and his fall to the dark side. Vos also revealed that his alliance with Dooku was a ploy to force the Separatist leader and Sith Lord to lead him to his master, Darth Sidious. Vos's goal was to destroy the Sith, but he had succumbed to the dark side in the process.
As a member of the Chagrian species, Kav Bayons possessed light-blue skin and a humanoid physique. He was taller compared to the Mahran Jedi Knight Akar-Deshu. Bayons felt disturbed upon learning of Quinlan Vos's alliance with Count Dooku and empathized with Desh's distress, knowing their close friendship. Despite his combat prowess during the Clone Wars, Bayons was outmatched by the Force powers wielded by Count Dooku and Quinlan Vos.
Kav Bayons made his first appearance as a supporting character in Christie Golden's 2015 novel, Dark Disciple. This novel was adapted from eight unproduced screenplays from the canceled Cartoon Network TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dark Disciple is considered part of the Canon The Clone Wars Legacy, a multimedia project using materials from the unaired TV series.
