This preview offers an abridged version of Knight Errant: Aflame 1. The comic's narrative unfolds eight years after the fall of the Chagras Hegemony, one of the successor states to the New Sith Empire controlled by the Sith. By the year 1032 BBY, a Sith Lord named Daiman has risen to power, governing a principality known as the Daimanate within the Grumani sector. Jedi Master Vannar Treece initiates Operation Influx, a swift, targeted assault aimed at disrupting the export of baradium from the planet Chelloa. The Jedi stealthily enter Jenith Spaceport aboard a cargo liner, swiftly neutralizing the Daimanate Sith troopers guarding the port's facilities. Amidst the conflict, the central character, Jedi Knight Kerra Holt, intervenes to rescue Gorlan Palladane, a leader of the Chelloan resistance, from being killed by two of Daiman's enforcers. The local populace subsequently welcomes the Jedi task force as their saviors.
However, tensions soon arise between Vannar and Gorlan. Vannar's intention was to execute a quick raid to hinder the distribution of baradium, a highly unstable substance used in weaponry. Conversely, Gorlan had hoped for a full-scale invasion to expel the Sith entirely. As a concession, the Jedi consent to evacuate some of the civilians. Regrettably, this triumph is cut short by the arrival of a rival invasion force commanded by Daiman's estranged older brother, the Sith Lord Odion. Odion's forces engage the Jedi in combat while Gorlan oversees the evacuation of civilians onto a cargo ship. In the heat of battle, Vannar instructs his apprentice, Ania, to assist Gorlan in the evacuation of the refugees. Initially hesitant, she complies, but later resolves to return to the ongoing conflict.
